but why not take examples of the other images at the 70mm range? kind of misleading
Ответитьgee wiz, that lens is the diameter of a toilet bowl!
ОтветитьFirst creat curve and the separate
ОтветитьLove your videos. Very informative and clear! I have a question about your leather cross-body camera strap - It looks sturdy and comfortable and seems to hold your heavy lens. Would you recommend having one? I currently have a scarf-type neck strap and whenever I'm not holding the camera, the strap is uncomfortable with my heavy lenses. My camera isn't heavy, it's a Canon R6. Is it worth it to switch??
ОтветитьThe delight of God is your strength. Congratulations!
ОтветитьI'm a student of movie photography, usually I use my blackmagic to shoot videos, but recently I picked up my "old" canon EOS 4000D (which I know it's not nearly as good as the one you have) because a classmate of mine asked me to made her some pictures. The problem is that in movie it's completly different and i had no clue on how to make someone pose for a pic, this video helped me out. Thanks
ОтветитьThat white reflector really helps!
ОтветитьThank you! very helpful
ОтветитьI am late to the party, as usual, but I must say almost everything you described I knew but it took years to discover it in my photo work which is primarily actor porfolios, and ballet/opera singers. The wide angle lenses oftern create a distortion but they also offer some creativity options longer FL offer. I am shooting more and more outside the studio where reflectors, scrims and an assistant are more useful than studio strobe. I work in a city that is stunning with many palaces, 44 islands, 600 parks, etc so all I have to consider it the weather on the day or hours of the shoot. Working with stage actors who are interested in transitioning to cinema is an advantage for me since I am well connected to the casting directors and directors and know what they are looking for, then have master classes 2-4 two times a month for 20-60 actors in the days everyone gets new headshots, and short into videos and 1-2 pages of dialog each. The stage actors know makeup since they do their own but everything has to be bigger than life so they are playing to the 13 row, where as a cinema camera is often at arms length so learning to not project as much in action, expression and voice is hard but they are generally a lot better actors than film actors, so they adapt pretty easily with the classes and scene direction in the classes. Most adjust in 3 takes directed by the guest/featured director. This attention to detail of gestures and limb position, when you see the difference, really makes a photographer aware of intentional posing to look unposed.
You are sort of a natural with this, the rest of use had to discover it the hard way. Anyone reading this 2 years after the video upload pay attention to how much you can improve the results by learning how important cues are taken by an observer in body positions, gestures, angles etc. What message are you intending the audience of the photo to assume about the scene and person? Experiment with wider angles to see how dramatically the subject proportions change with distance, even a few inches of displacement of some body part can magnify or deminish the perceived proportion of that body part. You can normalize an overweight person of short person or ??
Good luck, and shoot with intention. Digital cameras have lowered the importance any 1 frame but you can get more keepers by focusing on your intended result and shooting fewer frames.
Is that a full frame camera?
ОтветитьThat reflector looks better than that 5 in 1reflector.
ОтветитьReally great job on this video. I'm really learning a lot. Can't wait to put this in practice. If you didn't already make one can you do a video on how to start a photography business?
Ответить❤beautiful 📸 photos
ОтветитьWhere did you get the camera bag?
ОтветитьGreat Tips! (By the way, off topic: Have you both used the same scissors to cut your jeans? I think it doesn't cut clean and leaves a tassel... :) )
ОтветитьNice
ОтветитьThank you for this. While I will not downright copy everything here (that wouldn't be very creative, nor helpful), your explanations of WHY you are doing certain things (and what it is you're attempting to achieve with it), is (to me) a lot more helpful than the images themselves (which are more eyecandy, and take that in the best way possible, please :) )
As someone who's decided to more and more specialize at young women in their most vulnerable age and "make them feel beautiful just the way they are" (before society gets its chance to force them into the meatgrinder to become just another boring copy of someone else), and do my utmost to BUILD their confidence, knowing how to accentuate (and to a lesser degree hide) features becomes rather important. Your videos (and not only this one) always makes me stop and think several times along the way. Sometimes rewinding a bit, and talking things over with my wife (who is my photo assistant, and the one who helps the subject nail the pose, because society has decided that a male photographer even pointing from a distance to a fully clothed young girl's body parts to make her turn her hips or shoulders is reason for speculation), you so clearly showing the strength/elegance/vulnerable and feminine/masculine (which combined with some other tricks you've shown gives me the ability to tell my wife "I want a vulnerable, feminine, accentuated hourglass"), makes it very easy to end up with pictures that the vulnerable girl can see that she is REALLY BEAUTIFUL straight out of the camera. No need to edit her, she is perfect as she is (this is a trick I've started to use with low-confidence girls: If they see that the SOOC is good, they don't speculate in "did he edit me pretty?", and thus are less likely to think they need cosmetic surgery to be good enough. Don't ask me why, but it works).
Anyways, what I wanted to say is that your videos help. A lot. Thank you! :)
I wish she had wedges on!

ОтветитьOutstanding advice from a real pro. Thanks for taking me along!
ОтветитьWell Done. Very Practical. Thanks.
ОтветитьThankful for this I I'm really appreciative
ОтветитьGreat video! Answered my questions. You get a sub! 🎉
ОтветитьIf money were no object, I'd have that gear.
ОтветитьHi could you give ant advice on using a phone to take selfies please
ОтветитьGreat tutorial Vanessa, keep them coming :)
ОтветитьRF 85 1.2 might be forgiving when taking pictures, but not forgiving on the wallet or arm due to its weight! 😂 I just returned mine. Going to go with the 50 1.2 instead.
ОтветитьBeautiful 👍👍👍❤👍👍👍
ОтветитьThanks for the video. I am not a wedding photographer nor do I plan to become one. In fact, I'm just getting back into photography after putting the camera down for a decade or two (think 35mm). Back then I mostly shot buildings, and some cars, guitars, and motorcycles and my people pics just sucked. So, I'm working on areas that need a lot of improvement. What better person to follow than a wedding photographer? Of course, I have to still learn the digital world also but that's another discussion. There is a lot of good useful info for me in this one. I only subscribe to 3 video channels and this is one of the three.
ОтветитьI enjoy your secrets to pose people. How to move the model. In the film days I could have used this knowledge. Most of my work was posing mom and dad. The kids. Doing the triangle pose. You have to be one of the most creative photographers I have seen. Thank you
Ответить??????????????????????????????????????????
ОтветитьI’d prefer if you’d do this with a very stiff and slightly uncomfortable person, since that is a much more realistic scenario for us learners xD
ОтветитьHi! Great video! The tutorial free guide still available?
Ответитьwow so helpful, lot of natural tips that come up so organically in one session
ОтветитьVery nice !
ОтветитьLove this!!! Thanks for the tips 🙏❤️
ОтветитьThis is great basic stuff Ms. Joy! Keep them coming! Thank you!
ОтветитьFantastic content, really useful, illustrative etc. Thanks a bundle.
ОтветитьAlso where did you get your model from is she an old friend or does she model for a brand or something
ОтветитьWhat type of photographer are you and how you become it ?
ОтветитьDid you had to use and filter ? I have a 1.2 lens and normally I have to use 100iso and 1/8000 shutter and it’s not enough to expose the photo correctly.
ОтветитьReally a fantastic low key video on posing, thank you! I got a ton of benefit out of this! / cheers from the west coast
ОтветитьExcellent and helpful video, thank you! I just subscribed. :-) If you see this, I have a question that has nothing to do with posing--your camera strap/harness you're using in this video looks so great, what kind is it, and where'd you get it?
ОтветитьGreat informative video, I’m venturing into portrait photography and this video helps me a lot. Got to go shoot some Japanese in china dress soon and this helps me greatly, thanks a lot and I’m looking forward to your next video
ОтветитьHi Vanessa, with the wonderful understanding of these things, you are soooo beautiful person. All the very best!
ОтветитьExcellent video Vanessa. Throughly enjoyed. Thank you .
ОтветитьThis video was super helpful. My mind usually goes blank when I’m taking pictures of people. Lol.
ОтветитьHello madam good photography trik with you
