Gerunds can be used several ways in a statement. For example, they can be used as a subject of a sentence. Smoking is harmful for your health. In this smoking is a subject of statement. The other usage of gerunds is object. For instance, I love listening to music.
In this sentence my object is listening. In other words, what I love is listening to music.
Gerunds can also be used after prepositions. For example, I am angry about not going to the party. Almost always use the verb in gerund form after a preposition.
Gerunds can also be used in passive structures. For example, I was really happy because of having been invited to the party.
For past as well as passive gerunds use this Having + been + past participle, this is the formulation.
If you want to talk about past as well as active use having + past participle.
At the present time, use present participle such as having or listening.
At the present time and passive use this formulation, being + past participle.
I hate being told what to do.
I can’t stand being forced to do something.
I hope that I was able to clarified. 🤓🙏🌸
