Wasn't interested in the Pro-1 till now. This vid completely sold me!!
ОтветитьWHY YOU DID NOT TRY HIGHER TONES WHEN YOU TRIED OSCILATORS? FOR EXAMPLE A 440 SQUARE WAVE? MODEL THAT I TRYED DID NOT HAVE CLEAN SQUARE
ОтветитьAnother brilliant review! Think I’m just gonna watch all of them! 👍
ОтветитьGreat comparison. It's amazing how Behringer create high quality synths and clones in a decent price.
ОтветитьHas anyone swapped and/or can recommend bigger knobs onto their Bro-1? Worth it?
ОтветитьGreat video. I’m so happy with mine 🙂
ОтветитьCome on. The Behringer is not good quality, it is piss poor. Like most (all) of their products. I have a couple, and has had a few.
ОтветитьAhh but the original SCi Pro One still has that undefinable magic sound doesn’t it. Just sounds sweeter, brighter, more electronic and organic. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of the Behringer clones and they are superb VFM & generally smaller and way cheaper. But sound quality wise in this case, One v 1 it’s One everytime.
ОтветитьIt has mono mode, poly mode and Depeche Mode.
ОтветитьAt 34.30 you can hear that the Behringer sounds lighter and thinner, or is it because the original is a little louder? I can really tell it is louder. I wonder if Behringer will create a mark 2 with higher-grade components later.
ОтветитьHail the prophet... Great terminator music
ОтветитьGreat channel, Starsky Carr. You are the synth nerds synth nerd, meant 100% as a compliment!
What I enjoy most is your love of synths, going right into the details (yes!) and fun, none detracting from the other! Both synths are beautiful, love the Behringer especially, I like the size, rack mountability, quality that comes from mass production, MIDI, reliability.
As for Sequential, thank you for making the original synth 40 years ago. Many if us still appreciate this in 2021. Sequential are a great company, really like the direction they are going in too with the Prophet 6 and new Prophet 5 revision 4.0. Who would have thought back then in 2021 there would still be new reissue PRO 1s being made and new Sequential Prophet 5s?
I believe there is room in the market for all these synths (and more). I love plugins AS WELL, especially have a soft spot for TAL synths, great small developer with a great sound. What a great time to be alive and be into synths of all types, brands and price ranges!
Why is the filter on the Behringer slightly more closed than on the Pro-1? It's either that, or they're just really that different...
ОтветитьI feel the original Pro 1 has a breathy character, and is slightly softer. The Behringer is more aggressive, focused, and clear to my ear. I hear harmonics in the Pro 1 that I don't in the Behringer.
Both are champs.
I haven’t had the chance to play an original Pro-One but I’d say the main difference between the two for me as a hands on player would be the lack of an available keybed with 37 keys that compare to the original. I’d really like for Behringer(or sequential) to release a full sized version. Other than that, the Behringer Pro-1 is by far my favourite synth at the moment.
ОтветитьThe best one is Toraiz AS-1, with its patch memory, killer effects and great available sound packs ! 😉
A no brainer, like some people say...
Excellent! as usual! I need to buy me one ! 😃
ОтветитьI have the same set, and its Wonderful!!! CV and amazing!!!
ОтветитьDo some music !
Ответитьsuch a thorough walkthrough! thx! I'm all in
ОтветитьYou're costing me a fortune :-) great video (Well Behringer are)
ОтветитьJesus! It’s the same fucking synth! I’ve watched all of the Behringer comparison videos, but this takes the cake. You can own a Prophet for $300!!!
ОтветитьPro 1's are only £166 this week from Thomann... utter "no brainer" as Starsky comments . I owned a Pro 1 (and Pro V) back in the day and he's right, it's bang on. Cannot wait to get my hands on their Jupiter 8
ОтветитьSounds like the BBC studios workshops weekend tune up,anyone remember john pertwee as doctor who?
ОтветитьReally, really takes me to that era!The early 70s late 60s,moving studio sets and raw, screeching, droning sound effects.-in a good way of course.Cheers.
ОтветитьCrap, I'm going to have to buy one now! It makes sense that if the circuits are the same they should sound the same. Major major advatnage with the Behringer of price, much smaller size, MIDI and the components like capacitors and transistors only last so long so I would be very wary of owning a very old synth like this.
ОтветитьThat pulse width sounds gorgeous. Really looking forward to a poly version of the Pro-1. Should be worth the wait..
ОтветитьHello, have you plugged Korg controller straight in Behringer? Or is it routed through computer?
ОтветитьAs a certified Sequential head, the Behringer sounds pretty good, it dose sound a little different, not quite as squelchy and cutting, but it’s pretty damn close. The base is pretty much right on. I think I’m gonna have to get one of those little boxes, (cause I sure can’t afford the Sequential lol.)
ОтветитьBehringer is a miracle. They are working on the Yamaha CS 80 clone. That is going to be a game changer.
ОтветитьDid Behringer clone the first step is a miss when a step sequence is externally clocked? I'm the guy who did the "Chariots of Fire" NAMM demo with one of these for the bass line. As long as it faded in, it worked. Start it cold and it was obvious. Even if Behringer's works properly, all else considered they did a great job. I took the Pro One patch book I wrote over to friend who has one and it was dead on.
ОтветитьI inherited one that wasn't working, fixed it up with a fatar keyboard mod and a little soldering and it seems like otherwise it's in mint condition. It's MASSIVE though and heavy. Behringer's sounds and looks to function exactly the same, so I think I'll sell and downsize. Thanks for the comparison it has helped me decide.
ОтветитьIt's an almost accomplished replica of the SCI Pro-One, apart from envelope generators. What I found testing 3 units is they are ok on the short side but not so much on the long side: Filter Env Attack barely reaches 3.6 seconds, Decay 13 s, Release 28 s; Amplifier Env Attack 6.5 seconds, Decay 18 s, Release 32 s. I sent a video to Behringer support and they replied this is "as expected".
ОтветитьYou must have a huge disposable income to buy all these synths mate.....even more than my mate Andy McCluskey.......
ОтветитьA question for the pro-1:
Does the external Input go though the filter, lfo and envelopes just like the oscillators? Because would that make it possible to use (polyphonic)samples, played on a computer with midi keyboard, to replace the oscillators (and still trigger the envelope by connecting the same midi keyboard to the synth but with both oscillators mixed to zero)?
(also, I suppose it wouldn't get additional noise to my input since it uses the same knob on the mixer, or does it?
Please let me know.
Hello thank you for your video!
I have a question: is your midi keyboard a 25-key micro key?
This is to choose the perfect length with the pro 1
Thanks a lot
It's amazing how close these sound to each other. I've always been a vintage synth guy, but my Pro-1 arrives tomorrow, and I can't wait!
ОтветитьIf you talk beetween sounds of two, it's more difficoult to compare.
Less words and more comparison, please.
My first synth and always regretted selling it, so its amazing that this copy is so close to the original
ОтветитьSo I have a original pro one with the horrible membrane keys. Is it bad Ive considered selling it multiple time and getting the behringer if i miss the sound?
ОтветитьI don't understand this. It must have taken a massive amount of reverse engineering to reproduce all these classical synths down to perfection, yet they cost just a fraction of the originals. How do they do this?
ОтветитьNow that is what we needed !
Ответитьwhy no filter envelope test?
ОтветитьHo Number One
Ответитьdoes the behringer has the same fast envelopes as the Sequential pro one thanks
ОтветитьI really enjoyed that. When i first got the pro-1, i hated it, because i just didnt get it. I loved my boog, but not this, however, I've grown to love it, & that video has given me ideas! So, thanks! Damn fine watch on a Friday night! 😂
ОтветитьPro 1 is more thick and D have more filter
ОтветитьJust to confirm, did you say the oscillator frequency on the original has a 15 semitone range vs. a 5 semitone range on the Behringer?
Ответить
