Incredibly bad idea. Recon is responsible for intelligence gathering. Snipers have one job and one job only. Killing the enemy and controlling sections of the battlefield. After the Korean war, all sniper units were shut down. I was in the first Marine unit to step foot on Vietnam soil. I didn't walk up a beach I was hello dropped on top of a mountain with giant spotting scopes to search for enemy movements. We would call in air and artillery missions on any movement to protect the Seabees that were building the Chu Lai airstrip. 4 months later I was given a scope mount and a scope. I was never listed as a sniper. My mos was 0311 and remained 0311. Many high-scoring Marine riflemen were given scopes. Carlos Hathcock arrive in 1967 with his commanding officer and they started a sniper school. Recon is Recon and Snipers are Snipers. Bad move Corps.

Only just seen this video. When will the military top brass learn?? There seems to be a tendency to undervalue sniper skill sets during peacetime. Then cost-conscious high level planners and decision makers start axing sniper training programmes. Then generations of accumulated skill and experience fades quickly away. Then when wars start some bright spark bean counter remembers how useful (and ultimately cost effective) a sniper pair actually is. Then there’s a delayed reaction as responsible professionals get things back on track and fully up to speed. In the UK back in the day if it hadn’t been for the continued emphasis on sniping kept up by the Royal Marines that skill set might’ve slipped away entirely post WW2. Undervalued, underrated but actually an invaluable and priceless battlefield asset. Snipers now, blessed with superb equipment and excellent training are taking that skill set to a whole new level. Any brass hat wanting to waste that professionalism should be used for target practice. Well done gents.

As a avid long range hunter tbh the military needs to go away with these semi auto junk rifles minus the 50 . A bolt action is the most accurate idc what anyone says

A major downflaw to auto and semi auto after the 4th shot unless it's a target barrel give up you ain't gonna hit shit the barrel gets so hot it expands causing the rounds to key hole like I keep saying these snipers are junk

Thanks for the video. Our kid decided to join the marines for sniper training and bayonets (lol but really). Black Rifle Coffee supports MAGA, which is a real shame if you look at Project 2025's objectives. So it's a no go in our household.

Bs modern commanders don't even begin to know how to use their snipers. That was the problem from the get-go. As a ss my son did, everything these guys were doing all the time and more.
