I have a 2012 3500, as soon as the warranty came of it all the pollution control crap came off also. Got better fuel mileage, felt like I had a little more power today it has just over 500,000 km and running like a well oiled Rolex

Delete the EGR system and keep your factory tune or, as you said, get a pre emission diesel vehicle. By the way, I’d recommend you replace the intake grid heater. That’s a major issue on the Cummins and when it fails its ruins the engine.

I have a 2020 2500. Just put on the Banks Power Ram Air Intake, just mainly because I didn't want to take a chance on the grid heater issue. My truck had 67k on it when I bought it. After checking the maintenance schedule, the CCV filter should be changed every 60k. Since I had everything apart, figured it was a good idea to change it. Parts stores didn't have it as it was a dealer item. So, went over to the local dealer and $318 later, I had a CCV filter. And, you got ALL this for $300??

Did you clean the EGR cooler? It will be clogged with soot.

Why is everything I’m reading elsewhere saying you can’t clean the egr on 2019 and up?

Looks simple enough. Only have 13000 on my 2021. I did notice you were engaging the preheat when starting. If you push your start button twice, it will start with no preheat. I assume from your video you are not where I am (Alaska) although I do not engage preheat in summer. That under nut of the pre-heat cable connector is a huge killer of these motors. I plan on installing the Banks kit that will eliminate that bolt. It seems simple as most Banks stuff is designed DIY. Great video!

If you order the crank case filter from cummins it’s cheaper than the dealer. My dealer wanted like $300 and I got it from cummins with rush delivery for like $150

I was at my local dealership last week I was planning to do a coolant flush. I bought the coolant no big deal easy cheapy but I asked for a thermostat that almost made me pass out $480 freaking dollars just because it says Cummins in it. Wowww. I still have chills.

Man you got screwed on that oil filter change, $800 for a 30 minute job and $150 in parts,! Guess thats why they call them stealer ships.. I get all my parts off amazon for half of what a parts store cost. CCV Gasket on amazon, $50, 3 gallons of T6 rotella $61

Oiy.. Genos Garage for the CCV filter. Filter and EGR gasket kit $183 or $115 for the filter. Replace every 30k miles or so. 440k miles and never have had to do my EGR. 2008 6.7.

Not sure what you got for $800, but I'd recommend never allowing the dealer to do any work on your truck unless it's under warranty. And definitely shop prices on the parts. RockAuto and Amazon. Also replace your grid heater asap.

How did you finish cleaning the valve? Blow out dry with compressed air?

Oil change and fuel filters at dealership $680.

Cut the guts out of your old filter and re install it. Rout the vent line to atmosphere by passengers tire and plug the line going in to your turbo. Crank case stuff is bad for your turbo. Never buy another filter and double turbo life.

I have a 2018 ram 2500 that had that same service required message. There is nothing in the maintenance schedule to clean the EGR valve, only the change the ccv filter. The last year EGR cleaning was included in the maintenance schedule was 2012. The Dealer is ripping off the customer for $1300 of work not required.

All that stuff isn't even needed, look in the owners manual and it says when what maintenance is due when. Seems like they wanted to do alot of service that was not needed yet

Great video, when you delted the DPF did you just unplug everything and wrap it up out of the way? and did you install the tune before you did the EGR OR DPF delete or after you did it? Hope you're still around I know this video was yrs ago but it's the best and like you my luck is shit
I know it's straight forward but I'm constantly second and third guessing myself even if I'm adding 2 + 2 😂😂. I'm thinking I'm gonna just hollow out the DPF and use it. I have a 4" race pipe but not sure how loud it's gonna be.

I think an owner(the one before you) who’s willing to drive with mismatched tires is also going to be skipping services and skimping on quality parts. I hope that you don’t have any further problems!

Doc’s diesel will send you all your filters for just over $100, plus your oil to do all service. It’s not cheap but I won’t go to a stealership for a basic service

Egr doesn't need to be cleaned on that year... it's only 2013 and older I believe.

Is it my audio or did your truck start really hard? My 22 3500 doesn’t sound like that.

These fluid exchanges like brake fluid power steering etc is the new blinker light fluid scam, totally unnecessary and just a money grab for the average person who knows nothing about vehicles, this is why I started working on my own vehicles.

The CCV is $36 shipped from Amazon looks exactly like the one I pulled out, the EGR cleaning is simple unbolt clean and but back, just need new gaskets, all simple maintenance for the regular guy

Its funny because the same happened to me but in my case is slightly different i noticed the dealer deleted the error codes on my used dodge ram eco deisel truck and i ran into so many problems from the perticulate filter to the hexaust and now i been doing things myself but the mayor problem is the fact that i need a scanning tool to not only delete the codes but can perform the regen and other. Its been more then 4 months when i baught the truck and i could have sued them for deleting the codes and not completely fixing the truck before selling it. Well now im suffering the consecuences but heck more learning for more work gives me something to do i guess 😅

Yeah service is a rip off for sure .. But here is the good news 2018 and newer 6.7 DO NOT REQUIRE EGR CLEANING CHECK YOUR MANUAL. CCV FILTER IS REQUIRED @ 67K AND DEALER WANTS 600.00 TO INSTALL 50.00 FILTER. EASILY OWNER SERVICED.
Dealer also gave me the brake flush
Diff oil change rear end oil change etc. If you tow change rear end lube for sure. Also your trans fluid 25k if towing 30k if not. Once a year new gas filter and water separator. If you own a Ram Cummins it nice to know how to do a few maint items to avoid dealer. If truck is out of factory warranty look for high rated independent diesel repair near you
and let them quote some work to compare prices, now even if close in pricing I would prefer Independent shop to do work as its generally done correctly. You be surprised who does light maint at dealer.. Not service tech but the lot boy/ quick lube guy. Again don't get dealer ripped for non required service.
