I honestly didn't expect to reach the end after the insurmountable grind that they sent our way, but hey its done. Gonna go back a complete all the side stuff now. Not happy with the ending there. I know i sound like a broken record but after this many years and all the hype, we get almost 0 progression..... just another sequel bait that might not even happen in the next decade or two....not much else to say. Ohhhh.. I just finished watching the whole gameplay from Shenmue I, II and III thank you so much for uploading, though I haven't played any of this game but I really enjoyed watching this series and also the story, will definitely wait for Shenmue IV .. The story goes on...

Thank you so much for these videos! Literally was contemplating purchasing a ps4 for the sole purpose of playing this game to end the story I got exposed to as a child. Dodged a bullet and saved money--what a disappointment.

Well. . . Questionable.

The 5000 grind was a pain to figure it out how and made me quit playing for some days knowing I would have to go to a fortune teller and bet on flower bird wind and moon but today I ve just tried that table where you throw the ball and it had to fall on the mark, i forgot the name, the odds were 30x and you have to hit 3 times in a row in golden goose, and I ve marked a place on the screen and throw the ball in the same place and won 6000 in my third or fourth time, no load, finished the game today

Theory 1:
Ryo's dad and Lan Di's dad were friends. The mirrors were created, the chi you men wanted them. They were given to Lan Di's dad to protect. He mysteriously died, he either hid them beforehand or gave them to ryo's dad (either way ryo's dad got them) and then he hid them from the chi you men. The chi you men raised Lan Di, turned them into one of their own and told him Ryo's dad murdered his and that he had the mirrors. Lan di pursues ryo's dad and takes mirror.

Theory 2:
Ryo's dad is the cause of Lan Di's dad's death, takes the mirrors for himself, Lan Di finds him kills him and retrieves the mirrors.

What does everyone else think?

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt; perhaps Yu Suzuki was under a ton of prrssure, tight budget, limited staff, and time constraints etc, which is probably why he is so eager to start work on Shenmue IV immediately. If he does commence with Shenmue IV, the good news is that he can potentially benefit & invest in the profit & sales from this game wisely, give an attentive ear to his critics resulting in endeavours to improve upon, he already has the modernised foundation in place for the next instalment - just need to fix up & tweak certain bits & pieces here & there, and with all this in mind plus more; we can hopefully expect to see Shenmue IV within the next 2 years - perhaps on the next geneation console even (being launched next year). It's too easy to complain, but to remain hopeful & positive is more integral & beneficial. I like to see Shenmue III as a warm up introduction to the modern-day continuation of the saga, and that the best is yet to come God-Willing. Thanx for the excellent walkthrough; I watched & enjoyed every single part. Keep up the great work. : )

Only Shenmue would end a game with a boss you can't beat. The story isn't compelling enough to keep dragging it into a fourth installment. They should've had Ryo kill Lan Di in the end, then maybe do a prequel game featuring Lan Di and the Chinese Cartel...that would be tight.

Lan di voice, the battle...cutscene... I would pick a shenmue 2 graphics and quality content over this.

I just want to ask something about the plot-twist that people are talking about. So the twist is that Niao Sun betrayed Lan Di and took over the organization? Is that confrontation at the end the only time she has an encounter with Ryo? Why did she betray Lan Di? Or is that not the plot twist? So she has one mirror while Lan Di has the other mirror that he stole from Ryo's father?

I'm sorry but this was a wasted opportunity to finish the series on a beautiful note--it seems like a greedy move to me and based on the assumption that we'll automatically purchase Shenmue 4. All that Kickstarter cash for this?

I finished this game that I have been waiting for almost 2 decades and Lan Di and the Chiyomen gang still lives. I feel like the Martial Artists n' Ren of Heavens who helped me up in the temple or castle on the other side of the city, Ryo should had in mind of bringing "Joker" AKA John Doe with him and Lan Di would be 'WHO THE BLOODY HELL IS THIS" and John would say 'ITS THE JOKER" like a joke needs a punch line of the saga of Shenmue. But for real. the ending should had been better, but it really bored me to tears. Oh well, at least I can't wait till "The Last of Us Part II" comes out in late May of 2020...

The ending was anti-climatic. 20 years for a sequel? I was thrill for the showdown between Lan Di and Ryo. I was not pleased with Lan Di's voice as well as Nozomi's voice. He sounds like a punk teenager compared to the original Lan Di who had a deep menacing voice... What I will say is, the fighting mechanics in the game is incredible. What an improvement. This game is definitely amazing. I'm just a little disappointed with the ending.

This ending doesn't even make sense. Ryo doesn't seem to even acknowledge that he needs to train more before facing Lan Di again. The mirror was just tossed out the window, and now they're going to find Lan Di again. Shenmue 4 will be a narrative retread at this point, since they didn't even set up anything else going on.

They should collab with another company to complete this series. I have Naughty Dog in mind.
