Great tutorial but I need help. I stored my Nikon Speedlight SB-700 in the drawer for 8 years. For two days, I’ve been trying to it up, changed batteries, but to no avail it, it is not functioning. What do you think I should try to do?

Is this a good flash option if you just simply need an intuitive flash for still photography? I don't need the master or other functions yet.

Does the SB-700 flash have to be attached to the camera shoe for it to turn on?

I have one SB700 flash and looking to buy another flash so that one will be the master and one the slave. What would you recommend, another SB700, a sb900 or an sb910. Price is not a huge issue

So what is the difference between the 'even pattern illumination' (that's built into the flash settings) and a 'flash diffusing panel' (that you can pull over the flash)? From your explanation, they seem to want to do the same thing - spread light across a wide frame. Does the 'flash diffusing panel' do a better job of keeping more uniform light across that wide scene as compared to the 'even pattern illumination' ? Appreciate the info - new to the flash world and just trying to understand the intricacies. Thanks!
