Ah, time for a trip down memory lane...

I bought Kenshi the day it dropped on steam, recommended to me by pure chance. I wonder how much of this I'll remember,

Im late to the party, but amazing video. very well put together. im a huge fan of this game. got it about a year ago. i know many of the things u talked about. but i wasnt sure how hard his beginnings were. and at what point he finally got financial support etc. so it cool to hear how that worked. and how open and honest he was with everything.

i also agree he probably should of sold it as kenshi 2. but it sounds like it all worked out in the end. 1 mil copies at say 20.00 a pop, cause steam gets 1/3rd.... thats 20 mil pocketed.... not to bad for 9-10 years of work.

Can't imagine what indie devs had to go thru back then. Now we have game engines such as Unreal and Unity, platforms to sell your games like Steam, and community platforms like Discord. I am making an ambitious game myself while pursuing a Ph.D. degree in a field unrelated to game dev. Guess it would take me 13 years (10 years to go) as well. 😂😂

Kenshi and recently Silica are the proof that anyone with a dream, passion and willpower can go and make their dream game. I love this. And now that AI becomes more and more available for everyone... It becomes much easier to voice the ingame characters for example.

Great Documentary on Kenshi! I remember my brother playing it a couple years back. It reminded me of Mount & Blade. Maybe I'll pick it up in the coming months
