Romans difficult for most people??
Because Paul cuts to 100% of the "most peoples'" very private motives and intentions at every conceivable angle.
And, unless each one deeply desires to know God intimately, their motives are their own obstacles.

What Christ spoke here aligns with what's written in many places throughout the scriptures.

John 6:44-47 LSB — “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. “It is written in the prophets, ‘AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT BY GOD.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. “Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.

I would examine myself deeply, to see if you are indeed in the faith. Your works righteousness pushes you and many more towards Christ's words in Matt 7. Salvation is a supernatural act of God that is 110% Grace. When your given eternal life, Christ will not lose a single one God has give him.

A true believer does not live a life of lawlessness, they do, however, live a life of sanctification, which is sometimes slow.

Its literally right from The Bible. I was praying how to evangelize as a young Christian. In powerful tears and worship I felt an impression like a check in the spirit to put on my best sweater and go to the gas station 3 blocks away. I obeyed and on my way was so happy God spoke to me and was praising Him all the way there. I saw a cab which was stopped at a light with the window rolled down. The man in there heard Gods praise and I witnessed to him. Before the light turned green. The guy said hey have this youll like it. It was a pen with the romans road to salvation on it. When I got home I looked up the verses. I know its from God.

Matthew 7:21-23 "“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name? And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness."

Romans 10:13 " “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

So who do we listen to? Jesus or Paul?

Does not walking according to the flesh mean sinless? What is the measure of walking in the spirit compared to walking in the flesh. What I mean is, how much back sliding can one do after full conversion to be considered no longer walking in the spirit. Also, If one is backsliding constantly is it safe to say that they were never truly converted in the first place?

I wanna ask you a question and say some things and hear what you think. Do you think salvation/eternal life is a gift or a reward? Is there by any chance Jesus implied that salvation and eternal life were things to be fought for, strived for? Could it be possible that eternal life is something we actually have to earn?

Even though I know what Paul says about us not being saved by works but by faith in places like Ephesians 2 and Romans 4 where He says that to him who does not work, but believes, God justifies the ungodly.

But even so, Jesus never said or implied that salvation was a gift in any way, but a reward. A gift is given without merit, regardless or what the recipient has or hasn't done or whether or not they deserve it. A reward however, is strictly based on merit. One can't do anything for a gift, but a reward is earned. In fact, to my understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong), I believe Jesus implied that eternal life is a reward to be earned through merit, good works and obedience, perseverance, victories, overcoming, etc, not a gift that is freely given.

I wonder how much more intentional people would be about their walk with Christ if we had the mindset that eternal life was something to be EARNED and not given. I think people would be more intentional to fight for their salvation, endure, persevere and overcome. That people would see eternal life is a prize to be won and earned, not just freely given.

Of course I could be totally deceived and be advocating a works salvation which may or may not be true. I'm really curious as to what you think about this.

Blessings!!

Dear Adam, thank you so much for this very very important teaching. I am very blessed by it and it is inspiring me to reread the Book of Romans. I really love this teaching and your line-by-line method! One thing I'd like to raise is, that yes we are under the New Covenant, and so far I have been reaching the understanding after reading the Bible that the New Covenant is based on the Old Covenant. Therefore the Old Covenant is not abolished, but still valid, and is the path to our true relationship with God, and the path to being blessed by Him. Old Covenant is still the Word of God, and I'd like to obey it as much as I can. :)

Awesome teaching—Another question popped up: do you think walking in the flesh means anything we do in the world such as going to the gym, eating out, buying products…anything that is not God even in a general sense, when is it an idol- for example in order to lose weight or learn a new trade/skill you have to put a lot of effort into it- with the intention it takes a lot of focus , but not that you are not wanting to think of God 24 hours

Have you ever watched the different near death and encountering God videos… some have experiences with Heaven some have experiences with hell and some experience both… some of the ones who only experienced a heavenly state and only peace and love or a loving embrace… they will say it was like nothing else mattered and anything they did even bad in their life does not matter and that they have not completed their purpose so they must go back… some of the ones that have this encounter usually give a statement that this thing was a being or brings and give the indication they have heard of God but not really walking with God…no mention of Jesus or walking not in sin…
perhaps they are given mercy and must search out the matter and seek God, just seems confusing because they speak that they don’t have to worry about anything after their experience but they find themselves living a more joyful life

The "Roman's Road" is scandalous because it is basically jumping around Romans, picking verses at random, without context. That's totally abusing Scripture to "read" the Bible only in isolated verses.

The Book of Romans is fighting Judaizing errors, which was essentially Calvinism. The Jews considered themselves Unconditionally Elect, and Eternally Secure, Limited Atonement just for them, that the Gentiles were totally depraved, and that the works of the law were merely fruit to prove they were God's Chosen, not to get them into the Covenant.

Like you show, the so-called "Romans Road" is the broad road that leads to destruction, while Paul's actual Romans road is the road to perseverance in well-doing, through the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:1-4), which leads to the reward of eternal life (Romans 2:4-11). We must be warriors of tearing down false doctrines and strongholds of the enemy by the sword of the Spirit and the only Truth.

How do you believe the Bible teaches about when we sin as Christians? What is your personal belief? It would be good to add to your videos otherwise it sounds like you are saying we are only saved if we never sin again after believing in Jesus.

As David Bercot often points out, how odd that so many churches turn to Romans to preach how to be saved instead of going to the very words of Jesus. I wonder how many Christians realize that the new testament letters are really just a commentary on the Gospels.

Thanks. Everything you said is completely true. When the full counsel of God is not preached there will be deception. However there was something you said in reference to Romans 8:1. You said the newer translations remove the last part. However my research showed that the last part was not in the original manuscripts which were older than the ones used by the KJV. The research showed that last part was likely an addition but not a removal. Maybe you could look into it.
