- control massive swavs of the galaxy
- can melee

The tau:
- barely even made a dent
- nowhere close to as many victories
- basically work like tyranids, just too bitchy to admit it
- are reliant on that
- control maybe a couple hundred worlds at most
- would lose fisticuffs to the avarage 16 year old
- c*mmunists

The Covenant were designed as an alliance of multiple species to accommodate gameplay; each species serving as a different enemy type. Because of this the story was built around the gameplay, and the player sees all the races they have. Meanwhile GW just said the Tau had a bunch of species for no other reason than supplemental worldbuilding, and didn't actually have a unit in mind for each one, so it feels a lot weirder.

GW: Not publishing other Tau or any xeno species miniatures.
