I got worried because I picked up Cloud when he first came out and I started getting the same flak that I was carried. (Which by some extent was true during smash 4, I mean the man had a god neutral air.) But the dead second Bayo dropped, 99% of the Cloud hate shifted over.

well to be honest I don't really care what the players experienced as a result of using her. Not only did they abuse a character that really should have been banned, they attacked and insulted the people who were already rightfully annoyed, but when you lean that hard into it you start to make enemies, and tbh, you brought it on yourself.

They could have played other characters, but they didn't, and people got annoyed
They could have not abused certain combos, but they did, and people got angry
They could have not insulted people for calling them out for unsportsmanlike behavior, instead they doubled down, and people got furious
And Then they could have not wasted everyone's time at an official, respected, organized tournament, but they did, and people were outraged

This is cause and effect in action.

I personally always wanted Maxwell from Scribblenauts to be a playable character in Smash, but considering how accurately broken they made Bayonetta...

The thing about Bayo when going from smash 4 to ultimate, is that she wasn't just given nerfs to the parts of her that are actually broken, a lot of other characters old and new got new counter play to her as well.

Smash 4's meta was a bit more defensive at times, but not outright campy like brawl. Bayo was made to have some of the greatest offensive, while still having near impenetrable defense as well.

Ultimate was designed, and labbed out as a much more offensive based game, rewarding people for going in aggressive. A more or less unchanged bayo would probs be top 15, but not top tier. Of course, she wasn't left unchanged, was hit with the full force of the nerf hammer. And arguably, for the better.

This also threw dirt on her franchise
