Most video essays could deliver their info in 8 to 15 minutes. A few justify lengths above 25 minutes. Any essayist whose videos mostly go above 20 minutes pretty much has to meander.

As someone that spent way too many years in cinema school, I can attest to that. Think one of the biggest problem is most of the teachers are usually not actual industry people who actually know how to make a movie , but people who are paid to "reaserch" and over-analyse pieces of art , giving alsolutely bonkers interpretations that give meaning to everything based on their own insane interpretations, which often have very little to do with what the actual creators say they were trying to acomplish when you actually listen to an interview by them. Hence you get a bunch of over-analysers that are in love with their own voices doing intelllectual masturbation on themselve and over-explaining every movies in long , pointless essays that just muddy the actual message the authors were going for. Then they train the next generation to over-analyse content to the point of absurdity, leading to every single stupid show or comic book having some dude gloating how it's clearly a methaphor for 15th century politics in western indian and that the main character's name is definitively inspired by the norse gods.. I've even argued with one my my teacher at one point about the meaning of movies, asking him if he would change his interpretation if the author came out and made an interview when he said he was wrong, and the teacher replied that he coudn't care less about what the actual Filmaker said was his reasoning for making the movie, what was important was his interpretation... So yeah, enjoy your delusions dude, meaning I'll try to find actual teachers that can teach me how to make good films / to use a camera / montage techniques / stuff more useful than saying the drapes were blue in Blue Velvet to symbolize oppression from the patriarchy.
