DCS VR Hand Tracking Guide - 2025

Hey man, very good video. I don't have the option for hands in the menu of DCS. How I get this option? I have Meta Quest 3

When did you make this video? Literally none of the Oculus settings you showed are there in the current versions. In the headset and the Meta PC app

Under settings>advanced, I don't see developer options. Also in the Meta App under settings>beta I don't see an option for "developer runtime features." what am I doing wrong? thanks

does it only work via virtual desktop, not via wired link connection?

If this can be manipulated to work with Fred's HTCC but not interact with the controls without the inputs from Fred's program this would be amazing.

I tried mirroring the settings but end up with a 'bubble' pass through round my hands making it unusable rather than the 'VR' hands shown here, any ideas for a solution Q3 user

i cant get it to work for quest 2. Under controller options there is only disable and controlers. there is no hands option? anyone have a solution?

Now we need force feedback gloves so we can feel those switches and dials through the glove fingers.

They should connect this to the 3d pilot model so we can give hand signals to wingmen.

ED needs to make the switches and knobs lock on when selecting them. So if you pinch your index with your thumb it would lock onto that switch or knob. Then you could move it more naturally.

Playing the F-14 and F-4 hand tracking always puts down the gears while going afterburner :C

hi , how do you record the video with quest 3 that have full frame ? when i record , it dont record what i see in vr and dont show full frame of my view in vr when i transfer it to my desktop , maybe help please?

I do not have HANDS in VR in DCS. Only I have Disable and CONTROLLERS. Can anyone say why?

Question: can you turn rotary switches. EG the CRS switch in the F-5E?

Nice video is there also a key to deactivate the hands , because my OSD wont permit having those hands all the time when i hold the joystick , and yeah you only need VD all other setting you showed are not required but also HAND tracking but be turn on in quest , they are always disable by default for me because hand tracking its not good in Flight Simulator 2024 and I play both

I have a Quest 3 BUT no HOTAS. I wanted to try DCS after seeing this feature and it helped me expereience just the surface of DCS. Now i plan to get a stick, throttle and pedals. i feel like that is all i'll need with the hand tracking working well as it does.

So virtual desktop is a must?

Can hand tracking work wired? I don't have VD and would rather stay wired as my PC isn't ethernet connected which leads to a worse wireless experience.

To use virtual desktop, do I need Wi-Fi connection? Because if I use USB cable, virtual desktop can’t find my pc and it says there’s no Wi-Fi connection.

Thanks for this helpful video.. The fact that ED gave you the choice to use and ability to exclude HOTAS, shows that they are well aware of its limitations and also trying to make the experience as smooth as possible.. Will try it with the F16 MFD and ICP :D

I use DCS several times a week, love it. Great video, thanks. I have used your instruction to set up in DCS and settings in Virtual Desktop. However, when I get to the instructions in Quest 3 settings when I scroll down to advanced I do not see the Developer section with the 4 settings that need to be checked. Also, in the desktop ap under the BETA tab only the first 3 options show up, therefore the Developer Runtime features selection does not appear. Just wondering if you have any idea why I am not seeing these missing selections? Thanks

Where do you find "virtual Desktop?" That's not on option anywhere. Also the settings menus you show do not exist for me, anywhere.

its important to understand that not all cockpits supports touch enabled controls, example mig 15 supports it but mig 19 and mig 21 doesnt.

I chose to go with the passthrough zone approach, but if I start flying a different plane and my keyboard doesn't have enough buttons I might do hand tracking

I honestly avoid to bind anything to the HOTAS apart from weapons (and radar perhaps), and use everything by "hand". It's so cool when you have to move around the real buttons to set flaps, landing gears etc!
