The Best GPU for rendering with Blender. Using single and dual GPUs Part 1. RTX3070, 3080 and 3090.

RTX 3080 cannot be linked correct? It seems only the 3090 has this link capability, so how would a double 3080 be beneficial to use if hardware wise there is no link? Is there a way to link them with software?

So do I NEED something like an EPYC for multi GPU's? If I were to have 2 4070"s would a 12 core CPU suffice, or is the 16 lanes thing quite literal and you need 16 cores per pcie slot?

Why people keep using gaming gpus for these comparisons is beyond me

I know this is funny and tragic at the same time like having Ryzen 5 5600x, 16gigs of ram, B450m M4 motherboard, 550Watt power supply, 500gb SSD, 1TB HDD...........I use a GT 710 for rendering my works 😶😔 and yes I am trying to buy a new one my eyes are on to 3060 ti 12gb, its should be good for gaming, rendering, editing, streaming at 1080p.........hopefully 🤞so ya am saving up by doing certain fiver works, and making 3d models for Roblox games and so on so I can buy the GPU one day.

I have a question. Currently have an am4 3700X processor, 64ram3200, X570 tomahawck motherboard and rtx 3080 graphics, it has never gone smooth in Blender and crash in render due to insufficient vram everyday. My question is if I make a last cheap bet with an am4 5950x (same mother, ram...) to upgrade to RTX 4090 or this is stupid, because of bottleneck and because the single core workflow in Blender is a deficit of amd or directly I abandon amd (any AMD) and mount a full setup intel L1700 with 13900, bla,bla,bla, bla, accompanying the RTX 4090??? The fact is that I am impressed with a 1000€ laptop (Lenovo with intel 12700 and RTX 3060 that runs smooth as silk.

Why not use bigger tile size for rendering? Such small tile sizes are better suited for CPU rendering (like 32 x 32 or 64 x 64). Render speed for GPU is much faster with size of 256 x 256 and with recent versions I even get best times even with 2k x 2k.

It would be interesting to see this revisited. Especially since the 40xx cards are out now, and as well Blender is now on 3.5. I feel in some cases pricing makes buying a seccond 3080 look far more apealing. Even more so if you have a 12GB version. While only the 3090 has NVLink I have found if you have enough system ram and really work on optimizations you can get buy pretty well with 12GB. As not only are the Blender benchmarks not representative of a real workload, but also are optimized to show the lowest possible time. Where the wild you're concerned about far more than just one single highly optimized frame.

i have a itx build with a 8700k+32gb ram... i have no graphiccard but im looking to get a used one since i started blender and already reached the hd630 limits... im not sure if i should go with a twin edge 3070 or a a2000 rtx? what would u recommend? thanks

I have 3070 MSI VENTUS 3X PLUS, in an ASUS B550 Tuf plus wifi, theres no way i run my gpu on pcie gen4 , 16x , 16 gt/s, i need to use 8x 16 gt/s, or pcie 3.0, 16x but only 8 gt/s, thats normal? And what configuration is better? Im crazy about that, worried im not using 100% of the gpu i paid for!!

Would perform similarly linking the same kind of GPUs but as eGPUs via 2 thunderbold 3/4 ports? Much easier using an ultrabook for easy tasks and then when need more powerful computer link the eGPUs modules to the ultrabook. And checking the differences in rendering time between using a ultrabook with ddr4 ram and a ultrabook with ddr5 ram.. and between using thunderbold 3 and thunderbold 4 ports..

I just bought a Lenovo gaming laptop NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, 15.6" 120Hz FHD 300Nit, AMD Ryzen5 5600H. It works great but on my Blender simulator the background color looks off compared to my desktop and other computers I tried my simulator on. I still use Blender 2.49b. Textures are looked a bit washed out too. When I make adjustments it works but other games on that computer look dark. Is there a fix for just my blender 2.49b so my sim looks great and other games look great?
