for some reason, if connecting nodes exactly as in the video, the final overlay (when mixing base+mid with the top) results in the base layer dominating the top layer meaning the green moss does not show at all and I'm left with the voronoi barely visible in the middle with the bottom being black and the top being white

Edit: Copying the more complex version seems to work more or less as intended

More shocking than the content of the video is that Blender doesn't yet have a texture layer system

I'm sure you worked really hard on the word by word subtitles, memes, and soundtrack switching, but it's really distracting while I'm trying to focus on what you're saying and doing.
This is a tutorial, not a meme compilation.

It's hard to follow this because of all the loud clicking and typing sfx that have been added in, music changes, sfx and gfx like bubbles, kazoo noises and confetti and it overall being quite fast. Try not to over edit your tutorials. Also instead of using a clickbait title, try to instead use a title that is more easily searchable like "Learn procedural texture generation".
