while dooku is my favorite character, i think bane is the greatest rule of 2 sith. i just finished the bane trilogy, and his character is truly a force of nature. his ambition and the things he’s willing to do to accomplish his goals. to sacrifice yourself, knowing that you’ll never reap the rewards of your work. i think bane reading the texts of the ancient sith gave bane purpose. he had only ever experienced that once, with the gloomwalkers while he was in the sith army. he never experienced that at the sith academy. he longed for meaning, but the sith temple gave him a shallow existence. fighting for an order with contradictory teachings. an order that abandoned you after being defeated in a duel. he was lost. but reading the texts of the ancient sith helped him to articulate his problems with the contradictory teachings of the brotherhood of darkness. it inspired a vision of the future, one that he could lay the foundations for. it gave him purpose, and he worked tirelessly to achieve that goal. that’s what makes him so interesting in my opinion. he’s quite different from palpatine in that sense. palpatine saw power as an end in itself. to quote bane, “power is only a means to an end. It is not an end in itself.” bane is a person who longed for something greater. he sought purpose. again, he found that in the gloomwalkers, but that was taken away from him when he was taken to korriban. while he quickly learned that the meaning he found within the life of a soldier was hollow, he also quickly learned that the meaning he found within the sith academy was hollow. he saw a broken sith order and decided to dedicate his life to restoring the sith order. and from that point on, he was a force of nature. nothing could stop him from accomplishing his goal. when you get to see his internal monologue, he’s never raving about how he wants “unlimited power.” he’s constantly thinking about how to ensure the success of the rule of 2. the only times he hungers for power are when he’s trying to get something that’s meant to help future sith in his dynasty, like when he was learning to create holocrons. he desperately wanted zannah to strike him down, and to take on the mantle of sith master. he’s the most dedicated character in all of star wars in my honest opinion.

Since "The Acolyte" was released, we now know that the show takes place in 100 BBY, the last one hundred years of the High Republic era, during the reign of Darth Tenebrous -- during the finale we see a glimpse of who can only be determined to be Darth Plagueis himself, but as Tenebrous is still alive at that time, that would make Plagueis still the Apprentice as he didn't attain Mastery of the Sith Order until after he had slain Tenebrous.

Can someone explain to me how the F, Acolyte fits into any Star Wars Canon? I mean the show itself sucked, but why even make it if it doesn't fit into the canon?

Maul was a sith Apprentice thus his name “Darth Maul” which does give him the title as a true Sith Lord.

IMO canon is on the screen, not books or comic books, and IMO not animated presentations. I haven't seen any of the series, but I'm guessing most of the characters you talk about here weren't in any of them. And the "rule of two" doesn't seem like a sustainable manner of keeping the Sith order alive. Who, exactly, came up with this alleged code?

Is Maul not a sith lord because he never overthrew his master? He was introduced as an apprentice and had the title Darth so I've always viewed him as a Sith Lord as much as Dooku
