I love watching someone who knows what they are talking about and explains it without b.s.
ОтветитьWhat is gain?
ОтветитьSo if I have my outdoor antenna properly grounded, and my RCA preamplifier is connected in that coaxial line, wouldn't that also mean the preamplifier is grounded as well?
ОтветитьI have stations in different directions and play with antennas for each. The dreaded splitter can be made to work for more than one antennna. Those guys in a basement might try sticking a wire to metal anything… pipes, drop ceiling grid. I have tried everything!
ОтветитьBehind all of this
ОтветитьI already have an excellent tuner in my tv. How do I connect and transmit via wifi a remote antenna signal to a wifi receiving device connected to my tv’s coax antenna import? Can this be done? Thank you.
ОтветитьI have had issues with receiving broadcast tv since analog days at this location. 20 miles or so direct line of sight from the transmit towers on 9000 ft peaks across a valley floor. Problems have become more severe since the move to digital broadcast. Could be either the move to uhf frequencies or the tighter specs for digital modes. Problems were most severe on the occasion when planes flew overhead creating a multi path condition and occasionally from a severe storm. An inline signal booster had minimal improvement, especially with overhead planes. (multi path is where the signal comes nearly equally strong from several sources, in this case being reflected from the plane wings and body). What seems to have largely corrected the issue was using a distributed receive antenna array on the rooftop instead of a single antenna. Two antennas feeding a splitter/ combiner to a single coax to the television, this works in two way radio business for spotty signals and seems to work well here. if the signal to one antenna becomes weak momentarily the other antenna fills in the gap. Been using this for several years and almost never have a signal drop out compared to the single antenna arrangement. The antennas are the $30 outdoor sort from the local bog box home improvement store.
ОтветитьWhat is the best antenna for our zip code 34608
ОтветитьIf WPVI, channel 6 in Philadelphia is broadcasting on the actual vhf channel 6 as you state in this video, how come, after the transition to digital TV, you no longer hear their audio portion to the left of 88.1 on the FM dial?
ОтветитьTyler you are the man 🏋️♀️👍🤺🤗
ОтветитьGreat video
ОтветитьHey Antenna Man. I've watched several of your videos and got a lot of really good advice. But RIDDLE ME THIS: I live in Nocona, Texas next to the lake. I am north of any DFW channels, 45 miles east of Wichita Falls and 65 miles west of Sherman/Denison Tx markets. If I am able to get any channels it is out of Sherman??? I have a multi-directional outdoor antenna (20 ft tall) and a Tablo Quad that I scan for channels. Here is the riddle... when I scan at 6 AM I can get 20-25 channels and most are very strong. By 8AM these channels are gone. Out of these channels many times I can get channels from TULSA (250 miles away), Fort Smith AR (280 miles) but no stations close to me?? Tuning to channels I want/need fade in and out throughout the day. NFL Sunday is coming up and I know won't be able to watch much OTA. I'm forced to watch Peacock for NBC and Paramount Plus for CBS. Fox app and ABC app will not work bc these apps want my internet provider(Viasat), which is NOT on their list. When it gets cooler I'll move my antenna to the north side of my house but that is going to cause me to use longer coxial. I can't win! HELP PLEASE. ;-)
ОтветитьI built me a Ariel it works great I used coax cable 2 alloy rods wrapped in copper screwed to a platform and a wire net around it got perfect reception even in bad weather
ОтветитьWho has the most sucessfull DX tv setup? Whats a long reception and how? Ive often wondered why they dont use several solid state subtransmitters around town instead of the easy bake oven igloo housed x ray emitter chumped down on the gain, billion dollar power tube?
ОтветитьI got a open sky line of sight to NE texas but no line of sight north to the local.
ОтветитьIm pickin up from side lobes transmitters no more than 30-40 miles
ОтветитьI live in NW louisiana and sure would be nice to pick up some houston channels they have quite alot
ОтветитьYou don't just either have signal or not because it digital signal. You can read signal quality in % on most TV's. Picture freeze or glitch when quality drops.
ОтветитьAnd wich distrabutionboxes do you recommend..
ОтветитьIs there way to splice2or3 antennas coax together to receive more stations from different locations ?
ОтветитьWhat cable connector/crimper should I buy?
Ответить40403 is my area code
ОтветитьI live in the ideal location in Niagara Falls on Canada. I get buffalo and Toronto stations. I installed a rotary antenna with a digital readout. It works great. Then i bought a double flat type antenna . One panel points to Toronto and the other top Buffalo. No rotate required now. I was watching you vid about cables. I check mine and all were rg58. I have 2 tvs. and an amp. so i was getting good reception. After i watch your vid about the cables, my local auction house had a sale on rg6 cable so i bought 2 - 50 ft cables for $7.50 each lol. i won't need all the cable but that's what they had. I will run the cable in the house soon and cut it to what i need and but and end on the one end. Then when i get ambitious i will lower my antenna. It on a winch and pivot so it easy. I will replace that cable also.Thank you for all your help i really appreciate it.
ОтветитьThe recommended signal meter on your video is not a signal meter, it’s a converter box.
ОтветитьI have a question if somebody can help picture is clear but my audio is choppy
ОтветитьDo NOT send him money for his "custom antenna recommendations". I sent him my info and his response was NOWHERE close to being accurate for my area.
ОтветитьA bit confused - posted this on another antenna page, titled combining two antenna's to one tv. okay, newbie at this here - connected a Winegard flat amplified indoor antenna, 5L5500A to my bedroom Vizio smart tv. I get some stations really well. This antenna is in a 2nd story window facing North. I see a lot of stations are south of me - I was thinking of adding a flat antenna also to my dining room window, facing south. So I would want to combine the south antenna near my two tv's, and branch off to them - then on my north facing tv, I would want to combine that antenna to go to both tv's - so it seems as if I would have to combine the south antenna cable into 2 cables to go to each tv, in 2 separate rooms - then on the north antenna it sounds as if I would have to combine that cable to go to each tv - then I would have to combine the 2 cables at each tv into one to hook up to each tv? What type of splitters would I use, I assume powered ones - and what quality of cable would I use for a fairly long run like this - my place is a 2 room condo basically, with other small rooms as offshoots.
ОтветитьFew more: 11) Place amplifier closer to the antenna end. Once low-signal is lost to cable, it can't be recovered; an amplifier can boost what signal remains, but once the smallest portion of signal is lost, it's lost forever. 12) Several loops anywhere post-amplifier can help prevent lightning-strikes. Lightning takes the shortest (inductance) path and a few loops of coax go a long way to making some other pathway more attractive to lightning. 13) Antenna height is the most beneficial signal booster once an antenna/amp are in-hand. 14) If antenna is outdoor wall-mounted, there is often a sweet-spot wall-distance to bring-in weak channel(s)? 6"-18" normally.
ОтветитьI don't know if you will see this comment but it seems my sweet spotin my apartment keeps changing sometimes by a foot or so and sometimes by just a few inches . How can I fix this issue .
ОтветитьThank you for the great information you always provide.

Ответитьconsidering an attic antenna
ОтветитьYou talk about Pa do you do work near Maryland?
ОтветитьThanks for the info. I am having a problem with baluns. It seems some work and others won't ( even new one's ) out of the packing. I bought 2 of the $ 20.00 variety and only one works. Anyone having similar problems? Some you purchase are so flimsy.
ОтветитьI've tried to follow your consultation path and it says web site not available.
Please contact me if possible, Thank You.
I have a question, I live up on a hill in southwestern Pennsylvania. About 50 miles south of Pittsburgh and 20 miles north of Morgantown WV. I'm looking to buy a outside antenna with a rotor. Course I bought the junk one. most of my tv stations are between 50 and 75 miles away.
ОтветитьI live in Old Town Florida in very rule wooded area what would be best antenna for me
Ответитьdamn i have A LOT of noise specially on channel 11 and 13 and ghosting on my analog TV reception (analog is still used a lot here in Argentina) even with a proper yagi on the roof. Its probably because im about 67km away from transmitters (about 41 miles)
ОтветитьI work for broadband and will say that all these methods work. I have a set up in and central md and can receive Harrisburg.
ОтветитьHOWdy A-M,

ОтветитьLast week i ask you if I could get broadcast tv on a smart tv. You told me to get a certain converter box. My wife ordered a different one. Will this work? ZJbox digital converter box. Thank you for your patients. Tom
ОтветитьHello Antenna Man, I've observed your videos and listen to what you have said about putting a splitter to one antenna on 2 TVs that it would require a power amp. I am undecided of what to purchase for an antenna yet I would like to put outside next spring living in RI. However I have three TVs and was wondering if I could run all three cables down the cellar and then outside and attach all three at the base of the antenna. Would that prevent signal degradation? And would I have to put a power amp on all three TVs? Please advise me.
