I live 10 minutes from my supercharge. By the time I get there, it’s still preconditioning. Do i start charging once i get there or should i wait until the preconditioning is completed? If i should wait, how long does it take to complete preconditioning?

I’ve done this everytime and sometimes I will start charging and car will prompt me with this tip (navigate to precondition) and it will slowly charge. Anyone else having this issue? I’m wondering if there is a rule of thumb for how long it takes to precondition?

Is there a way to start preconditioning IF you are not going to a supercharger.....like you need to go to a random fast charger?. How to star the preconditioning to help the charging when you get to the non-supercharter.

What if you are not going to super charger? How do you precondition?

what if we want to charge faster at a CCS charging station but there is no tesla super charger within 200 miles of me???

Hello. I’ve been using the app to send location of the Supercharger to the car. It’s a 20 min drive to the charger from my house. Every time I start charging I get the “Next time - Navigate to Supercharger” … for faster charging message on the screen. Do I need to use the cars screen instead of the app?? Thank you.

My 2021 Model X NEVER preconditions anymore. It did when it was brand new, but now that it is almost 3 years old, it almost never pre-conditions. My loaner model 3 preconditions every time we charge. WTH?

What about charging at a non-supercharger, e.g. home?

Call me paranoid, but i don't trust the automatic precondition thing.. here is why.. i did a test on a round trip. A round trip that can be done without the need to charge.. that mean about less than 200 miles round trip. So using the navigator i did that round trip twice on two different occasions. The first round trip i selected (added) a supercharger in the route plan from the tesla navigator, so i wanted to reach the destination which is less than 100 miles away from the starting point.. after selecting that supercharger as destination the vehicle is calculating. We are in march, winter still, cold but not too much..above freezing point. As soon i hit the road i could hear the battery system starting to make a different noise. At that point I presumed that it had already started to precondition. As i was drivng on the highway about 60mph I was looking at the percentages and it was dropping fast. it went from 100% to 87% in almost no time. And almost every minute the percentage was dropping by 1%. 86%, 85%,84, 83%. And i had not even done 25 miles in yet.. i had atleast another 70% to go until it reaches the next supercharger (destination point). Now to drive 100 miles it takes about 1.5 hours (under 2h). Now i don't think the battery need 1.5 hours to be preconditioned. Im sure it can take less than that to preconditions the battery,, and it doesn't have to start the precondition thing so early in the trip. It can and should start to precondition when you get closer to the supercharger. But in my scenario it started to precondition right at the beginning of the 100 miles trip which caused the battery to drop like a rock long before reaching the supercharger. Nowi i don't know how much profit tesla makes for each dollars they charge. (I hearrd 10%). So when the battery is wasting so much energy preconditioning. Then it is certainly good money for Tesla as you will require much more energy to charge at full.. sure because it is preconditioned, it will charge faster. But i would prefer slower charge from a higher level.. So im asking What is cheaper, charging from 40% to 100% at faster preconditionned rate ? Or charging slower from 60% to 100% with a semi preconditioned battery, (i say semi because i would activate the precondition 5 or 10 min before reaching the super charger.)

The second attempt to do this exact same round trip , i did not select the super charger this time, but i was heading toward it. I just hit the road and reached the same super charger about 100 miles away and i had much more percentage left than if i had selected that supercharger in the navigator allowing the computer to activate the precondition ,, ofcourse if i would decide to charge right away (because the battery was not fully preconditioned, it would probably be slow,, but how slow would it be., definitely not 20 times slower. With 60% battery left going from 60%-100%. With a non fully precondition battery, it would be cheaper to charge than if i had a fully preconditioned battery that requires to go from 40%-100%. (20% lost because it preconditioned during the trip)..

Call me paranoid but tesla purposely overly precondition the battery so that you need more kw to charge,

I how can I start a precondition before leaving if my car is under 20%? It won’t activate the defrost and the scheduled preconditioning doesn’t seem to work. I set a route to my superchargers and it’ll start preconditioning but it’ll take an hour to charge once I get there. Any tips ?

When I click on tesla supercharge, it doesn't appear to be “Pre-conditioning” anymore. What should I do?? Is there anything wrong with my car?? Please...

Question for you- there is a Tesla dealer here (in Toronto) that has V2 (150kwh) superchargers, but the car will not precondition, and the supercharger is not listed when I search to supercharge. How do I precondition when I head there?
