I appreciated you saying “I hated every minute” of the race. I felt the same way during my first 5K. You inspired me to sign up and work toward the next race in a few months.

Only humans can go "I hated every moment of this. I wanna do it again!"

I think the majority of recreational runners are competing against themselves. As long as you are challenged and motivated, go have fun!

So much of this resonates with me! My first 5K (post high-school) was in October, then another at the end of October, then again in November, and now I've got one coming up in December. It's addicting.

This is the most relatable video ever! I am starting C25K next week and I'm going to try and have your mentality about it when training

You're a natural storyteller - I'm actually getting emotional with pride as you're describing the race! I haven't done a 5k yet, but now I'm really looking forward to getting out there.

Hello!
I started C25K a couple of weeks ago. I have been on the same position as you, being not a sporty type for my whole life. I have had to repeat week 4 plenty of days, the day I run 4 straight minutes TWICE it felt so good. And then on the follow up run I couldn’t run more than 8 minutes in total. So I’m back to 2 minutes runx2 and 3 minutes runx2, until I feel well again. And I felt frustrated. But today I woke up at 6AM, and decided to go for a run after a week since my failure. And it was hard, but I did it! And that motivated me again. And watching your video. Thanks for the honesty, I really feel seen!

I just did my first 5k this past Monday and I didn't run all of it either, but I finished! You got off the couch and you did it so congratulations for finishing!

Great video and you are a inspiration. I also am asthmatic and am on week 5 of the 5k challenge. Like you the hardest part I find is motivation , but I shall take a leaf out of your book and book myself a 5k event to give myself a target. Look forward to your next 5k video 👍

I know the feeling of showing up to a race and seeing what I considered "real runners." But that's how it starts! Nice signing up for another race!!

How spectacular! I've never run a 5k however have walked several. I understand the camaraderie you experienced when I did the Susan G. Komen for the Cure walk. So glad you're motivated to do another "race". Good luck breaking your record!!
