This is one of those narratives that started back in the day on reddit/4chan/twitter and with a couple of clips that don't tell the full story. It paints the JP fanbase in a more negative light than was actually the case and gives more credit to the overseas fanbase than is due. Not saying that some JP fans didn't over react and that overseas fans didn't help, both of these are true, but it's been exaggerated to fit the narrative. It's been repeated so often now though that most people just treat it as a fact.

There was never a mass exodus of Towa's JP fans. As is often the case with this type of drama it was just a small number of crazies. Also the issue wasn't that she had a bf, it was that she panicked and lied that it was management...very similar to the Rushia situation where the issue was never "GFE" or that she was messaging mafumafu, it was that she panicked and broke her NDA.

Overseas bros absolutely had her back though and it was around the time Hololive was blowing up in the west because of Korone, Miko, Fubuki and the others so there was a large influx of EN viewers to everyone. So overall still a great video, I just think that overtime the facts tend to get sensationalized and made more melodramatic by fans retelling it because it makes for a better story, making finding what actually happened a lot more difficult. Keep up the good work!

I think all of Hololive's talents should find the love of their life. We can't let them wither in the vines. Japanese Idol culture is rancid as hell though.

It's strange. When I see a young woman, that seem like a good of a person, so devoted to her work, specially in the entertainment industry, I wish she can have a healthy personal life, because many don't. I sincerely wish that they don't wait until they are old and infertile to decide to find love, marry someone and raise a family.

I remembered watching her 3D Debut when I'm still new to the Hololive, and that Live Stream made me a Kenzoku. Up until now, even tho I take breaks from hololive time to time, I still go back to her, she is just so Precious.

>idols must be pure
Ah yes, good old Perfect Blue

Back in the mid 90s or something I had a mega crush on Naomi Tamura and I didn't even know who she was at that point but I lived in the sticks, In Germany, and I was completely taken away by this new awesome kind of exotic music.
She coulda had 9001 children and twice as many partners, I was still listening to that crappy wobbly tape my penpal sent me on my crappy cassette player radio to listen to her songs during summer like crazy.

Idols should be required to have a partner to become idols from now on. I don't see how it would get in the way over fawning and parasocial, hel, for men, having a ring on your finger attracts women who might think they can outperform your wife, man.
Lol.

But perhaps they think they can be her first...what a delusion, man. Poor idols.

One thing I’ve learned about online culture is you can NEVER feed the trolls and legitimize weird dynamics between the fans and talent. the talent owe their fans 0 percent of their personal time and life. End of story! Towas an incredibly talented artist imagine losing that to losers who think they have a chance because they superchatted

I remember this happening and i was confused as to why people were angry. I had no idea having a boyfriend or even a males voice being heard would cause so much controversy. Id been watching miko since late 2019 but this was my first taste of idol culture. Even now i still dont care if they have boyfriends or husbands. In fact im worried that some of them wont get married😅.

Why tf are Unircorns still a thing like seriously why, isn't it clear af that hololive isn't a fricking tradicional idol agency and that the talents aren't obligated to not have male interactions, like for fuck sake for all we know that could've been her brother or father

This is why I don't find Yagoo memes funny. Talent holding companies are a plague. There's no replacement for them, being indie is hard. But they don't deserve the time of day and you shouldn't give it to them.

Sometimes I find it hard to stand parasocial JP fans over the whole "unpure idol" when it comes to talents. There always seems to be some kind of bad blood between overseas and JP fans when it comes to male voices or mentions by talents.

i hate the whole idea that idols must no interact with males at all to appear a "available" to fans(mostly the male audience), its makes me angry that people believe these vtubers exist only for the entertainment/ and parasocial relationship of themselves. vtubers are people who chose the entertain for themself and an audience they did not become vtubers to entertain the delutional one sided relationship people believe they have with any said vtuber/or any entertainer personality in general. im glad towa got through and became an even more amazing person and i cant wait to see what she does moving forward.

What is so fucked up is Cover not backing their own talent in this and feeding the loud minority in their insane idea. Only worsening the problem by validating them by issuing an apology to them and making Towa apologize aswell further escalating the whole thing.

Ahh fuck, I can NOT understand the degree of parasocial Andy's that allow them any sort of claim over someone's career. To slander and actively tear down someone you once loved simply because they ended up not loving you (for very obvious and valid reasons) is just obnoxious, absolute clownery.

Really, the worst she did was "break character."
I understand it kinda breaks the illusion of the characters they play, but I wouldn't even call it an offense. If that's the image Hololive wants to sell with these fictional characters (so long as the actresses' personal lives aren't being negatively affected), then I understand wanting to remove the stream. Vtubing is effectively one big roleplay, and the audience is in on it. As long as people can seperate fiction from reality, it's not an inherently bad thing. Of course, it gets bad when people take it too seriously and project a sense of ownership on the streamer.
Cover Corp is sending the wrong message by treating the slip up as a punishable offense..
