I own this guitar. If it said Gibson on the headstock it would cost twice as much. The vintage black has a ebony fretboard. Great versatility in tones.

pretty sure the ec-401 has the rosewood fretboard and thats what seperated it from the ec-1000 along with differences in hardware.

just swap the emg's with the duncans you want and you should be fine

I prefer the Duncan version, only the Duncan version has a rosewood fretboard. Why do you do this Esp? :C

you just have to use thicker strings.....something like 064-012 should be good for drop a#

can you tune it to A# cause the the wood its made of is harder ? cause i just have a really really crappy harley benton which has the same scale as this guitar but cant get lower than drop c.im wondering cause ive seen woe is me with this guitars tuned to A#

Had that problem before too. Except the bridge would cut out when i toggled. Pretty weird. Hasnt happened recently though

Yeah! The Plot In You uses A# sharp on one of these! Listen to "Premeditated" by them, and you'll see how it sounds!

not a good idea to mix... just a suggestion. stick with your actives! you could replace the EMG 60 with an EMG 89XR which are very good for a passive cross active sound while still being active and working with your guitar. Hope this helps :) cheers

Hey, i've a question.:) I want to keep that active emg 81 but i'd like to replace the emg 60 with a passive pick up..like a gibson burstbucker or a seymore duncan. is that possible? thank you:)
