Trotsky was a clever man, a shrewd politician. Far superior to Stalin, in intellect and several other means. He should never have been murdered. But I think it’s a good thing that he never rose to power in the Soviet Union. Stalin was an evil man, evil, proud, and paranoid to the point of being crazy. Such men like him should never be allowed to rule over any country anywhere. He plunged his country into such darkness that it had not seen in centuries. His tyranny over his own people will probably never be surpassed (although a certain Russian leader of today is trying his utmost to, at least, be considered an equal with Stalin.) but Stalin got one thing right and Trotsky wrong. Devoting most of his power to building a strong Soviet army. Trotsky’s plan of universal rebellion of the workers parties and the rise of communist states throughout the world, could only have worked if another world war did not occur first in that generation. As we all know, it did, worse than the first one of 1914-1918. National Socialist Germany gave rise to Adolf Hitler, a man just as deranged as Stalin, just as evil, and who sticks in the public conscience today even more so, though he had slightly less casualties than Joseph Stalin (in my opinion, Hitler’s murder victim count would easily have surpassed Stalin’s if he had as much power as Stalin did and ruled for as long). If Trotsky had beat Stalin, I am almost certain that Hitler’s army would’ve smashed into Trotsky’s Moscow with ease in their invasion of the Soviet Union, and it was only because of Stalin’s heavily invested military might (to the detriment of his own people) saved his country from ceasing to exist during the Second World War. Hitler’s army, although impressive, could not overpower Stalin’s forces or the Russian winter. The Anglo-American Allies would have been severely handicapped if it weren’t for Stalin’s Soviet Union. And, in my opinion, neither National Socialists nor Soviet Communists will ever rule the world, because those two brutal dictators (Hitler and Stalin) and their ideologies existed at the same time and fought against each other with fearsome ruthlessness, and cancelled out each other’s plans for world dominance. Anglo-America is already more powerful than both Hitler and Stalin combined, and they will never allow a new (human) threat to their world control to rise. The United Nations is supposed to guarantee this never happens. They just better hope that there is no super-human power in the universe who can snuff both of them out in an instant. Personally, I see it every time a volcano erupts, or a glacier of ice breaks off from the shores of Greenland and falls into the sea. This very planet alone has a sleeping giant of force in it somewhere, and it’s only a matter of time before that giant awakens. As for the vast emptiness of space, who knows what might exist out there (I’m not talking of aliens, at least not in the same sense we understand ‘aliens’ to be). And maybe, though this seems less likely to me, maybe the human race will snuff itself out of existence because of one or maybe a handful of idiots who delude themselves for five minutes into thinking they can somehow win the world as their prize gem if they push just one fatal red button.
