I have to admit. I'm very impressed by his later work.

If a scientific approach to human flourishing was feasible, we'd all be living happily as Marxist adherents. In fact, like any system, science and all human thought, must derive their purpose from outside that system, or from a higher level of existence. Call it God, the universe, or something else, the purpose of life is found in relation to the whole, not within the confines of science.

As a kid , i was nearly indoctrinated into believing in the ridiculous , unproven religious cult of Darwinist evolution .

Then Jesus saved me and my eyes were open .
And i knew that Jesus is the truth and he is alive today , and Darwin was a lying con man , snake oil salesman , perverted finch molester and the son of the devil , and he and his pseudo science lies are dead !

I saw my grandparents and they weren't apes .
No one has ever seen a filthy ape ' magically ' turn into a human .

My wife , son and i are value producing humans created in God's image .
Our ancestors are Adam and Eve , not some slimy creature that ' suppossedly ' crawled out of the ocean a billion years ago .

Humans and dinosaurs actually lived at the same time only a few thousand years ago .
So , it is time to throw Darwin and his ridiculous ' theory ' on the ash heap of history .

Interesting perception. Ironically Dan’s ideas seem to clarify and confirm the idea that, for many Christian’s today, Jesus is alive and lives within them, and they are indeed the body of Christ. It also makes far more sense of the Lord’s prayer “Thy Kingdom come thy will be done on Earth as in heaven “. Nice one Dan. RIP

RIP. I disagreed with you and still so. We are living in a material age and all that is understood by some is what is elemental or material. Now with the quantum world and A.I. there is a level of waking up. There is the hard problem of consciousness (is it fundamental) and mind is it elemental (does it emerge with quantum events)?

The days of seeing life as one dimension rather than three are over. There is still an attempt by Eliminative Materialism to reduce three dimensions to one —— the material. It won’t fly as people are getting too smart.

Also there is the threat of trans humanism; humans embedded with technology. There will be push back against that; our humanity is not up for grabs or for sale to the latest idiotic, atheistic ideology that comes down the pike.

Communism was bad enough.  

Still, RIP Mr. Dennett you went with what you knew and understood and you can’t be blamed for that.

you argue as if there is one set reality and only some things survive to remain alive on a single timeline. this is like thinking that time is uniform rather than relative.

Well spoken. People speak like humanity is an unknown force in the universe we cant predict. Like we have no idea what fuels people to take up faith and in belief in things we know dont exist. Its similar to fighting terrorism. We talk like its a war to win. Everyone wants to go home happy and healthy at the end of the day. The more we have safety and security the less are radicalized. Instead we engage in violence and wonder why people radicalize. Religion works the same way. Paget and Freud recognized a century and a half ago that trauma is pandemic. Not a rare occurrance but rampant. People turn to religion in fear. Sometimes in imminent physical fear but mostly from deep pschological unrrsolved trauma. Religious trauma. Trauma from neglect. Trauma from abuse. We dont know how to deal with this fear. We turn to whatever makes us feel better. Religion has learned to use all kinds to tricks to make it seem real and worthy of our time. It leads us to abandon humanity for fictitious rewards or punishments. The northern European countries have taught us that if you have healthcare and invest in people the incidence of faith goes down and people are happier. One day the religious will be the odd person who refuses help for thier traumas. We must focus on trauma, religious indoctirnation and early childhood trauma. The data is there. No one is putting it together.

I used to think religion was just going to fade out. Long after I’m dead, but oh well.. I see now we have to understand it out of existence. I hope the scholars and researchers take up this project suggested by Dennett
