Savage model 110 308 w/a 24 inch barrel . My favorite was just released in 1964 or 65 . Cost me $160 new in 1966 . With 4 power weaver scope then . I own a model 700 3006 . It’s good ,but not in same as that savage .

Had a hunter I respect a lot recommend the Remington 700, and had a gun nut that I respect recommend the Ruger American. Seeing both on here, along with a couple others I hadn’t considered, has made my first rifle choice much harder, but I know that they must be alright, where everyone seems to be recommending them, not just a couple people haha!

Bought a new Ruger American 308, 2 boxes of 180 grain winchester power points, and a vortex 3x9 z Brite scope. Lightened the trigger pull and went to the gunrange. I am still astounded with the accuracy of a single hole 3 shot group at 109 yards, or 100 meters from the bench. These guns are very accurate, but they have a flimsy stock that sounds like a woodpecker when tapped with your finger. I fixed this problem by wrapping the stock up to the trigger guard from the recoil pad with camouflage wrapping cloth tape and camouflage painted the whole thing, including the scope.
This is what I have been hunting with for wild hogs and whitetail in the forests of east Texas out of my climbing trees and. Never had nothing get away from me and my favorite gun so far.

Just bought my boy his first rifle (Savage 308) for his first hunting trip. It too came w/an adjustable trigger. Good thing too. Cause it came w/a 6 1/2 to 7lb pull. But it is a pretty good rifle. An my boy loved it. He's pretty proud.

Anyone reading this. DO NOT BUY THE SAVAGE AXIS! They rust so damn easily. Do NOT buy them. They're crap quality metals. The Remington 700's are super cheap quality rifles. Do not buy them. Go with a Browning, or other higher quality brand. Remingtons are not worth shooting much less buying right out of the box.

I own a Ruger American in 308 and total satisfaction. I have caught a deer with it at a distance of over 500 m. I normally shoot foxes from 150m-240m. The rifle is absolutely accurate. In plastic, it is a great working weapon that does not mind moisture, snow, fog. The bonus is that it has a narrower pistol grip and if you have a smaller hand you will appreciate it. It is a light reliable weapon, suitable mainly for a mobile shooter. In connection with the silencer, there is nothing to deal with

I was at the range the other day. One vet let me shot his 30 06 and then another hunter guy said here, try my 308 bolt action. I was expecting the 308 to be less harder but it felt the same. The hunter told me he uses 185 heavy grain on that 308 n that is why it felt the same. So you will have to use 120 or 140 grain on the 308 if you will want to reduce that punch 👊

Terrible "For Beginners" list. This list sounds like it was made the same way politicians try to make gun laws, just listen to random anecdotal telephone game stories, and taking biased research from limited sources, without ANY firsthand knowledge of the topic. Not to mention it seems like this video was made with "Google Translate" and a robot voice changer. There is no "standard 8 inch" AR-10, nor Remington 700, an AR-10 is not a shotgun, the M1A is not bolt action... I want this 10 minutes of time back.

Is this video a repost? Remington (Freedom Group) went bankrupt so the 700 isn't available, for now, and DPMS went under with them and was sold off to new ownership (Panther Arms) so they don't offer the Oracle anymore.

I have taken deer with two of the rifles listed here. In my opinion, it all boils down to what you feel comfortable shooting, what you have the money for, and what you enjoy shooting. The right tool for the job. Some people are simply more comfortable shooting bolt guns or semi auto guns.
You can take a deer with .223, you just need to use the right bullet and you need to hit where you intend to. A bigger bullet like a .308 allows you to not be as precise and still make an ethical kill.

Been a 270 fanboy for decades yet just purchased a Tikka T3x to get a 30 cal NATO rifle in my gunsafe… so new to .308 WIn. Love it. As a reloader, I also kitted out for that too - still dialing in recipes. Enjoyed this short overview, thinking hard on the AR10 platform next.. thx!

there are no rifles for beginners that fire a powerful cartridge.
308 rifles are serious weapons, and they can kill at long distances.
so, uless you're a beginner killer, treat them as professional tools
