Young Jake looks like Ed Sheeran
ОтветитьOld Webcams from Laptops and and old pc works too
Ответитьthey both look like babies in 2023
ОтветитьHey Linus! I think it’s a great idea to put the CCTV camera module inside the dummy one, because I like the look of the dummy cameras, whereas real ones don’t look as good. Edit: Also, you could wire the cable coming out of the camera into that empty fake conduit, this makes it look more neat
ОтветитьBro used the 2018 intro. 👍
ОтветитьPlease make an updated version of this video!
Ответитьwow Jake hasnt got any LTT food money here yet.
ОтветитьYou could also use webcams with USB to RJ45 extensors and a USB hub. If you want outdoors nightvision, you buy those IR reflectors and pair it with a photoelectric sensor, to turn on on low daylight. Most webcams have attached microphones so you have audio as well.
ОтветитьNever thought I would see early Jake!
ОтветитьLaughs in 2023.
Just kidding, ESP-32 works just as well, can use MotionOS, cheaper than the original build, and are available with a camera lens.
Of course there are some trade offs and tweeks but in 2023 with no idea when any RPi units will be readily available, it's a worthy consideration.
Or, look into many of the other RPi substitutes but that runs into the same possible issues.
glytch did it better
ОтветитьWould love to see an updated version of this video or maybe an overkill version of this video.
ОтветитьWhy on Earth is this in mu recommended?
Ответитьwe need a 2023 version.
ОтветитьJust use traditional cctv cameras connected by cables to a DVR, and then connect thru internet via ethernet cable, you’ll get local storage by hard drives, little to no delay realtime viewing, and much cheaper than IP cameras in the long run
ОтветитьCan we get a updated video on this?
ОтветитьI'm dumping nest m going to a nvr system
ОтветитьI know this vid is old but, I just settled for a Wyze camera v3 ($50 at the time) and put my own SD card in it. I'm not savvy enough, and don't have the patience for Linux. Last time I used it I wanted to pull my hair out lol
ОтветитьJust to add a little that has changed over time. Nest has now been bought by google in 2014 and no longer is per camera subscription, it app is still not the best but is being merged into google home. It is now worth looking into for home security, especially since some devices can double up with other functionality.
ОтветитьWow Jake looking fresh
ОтветитьI would like to see a video on how to set up something like TrueNAS to do what the Synology Surveillance Station app does.
ОтветитьCan I use genni cameras they run through Google but they are not this
ОтветитьFor those of us that dont know anything about all that tech there is Feit elelctric cameras, about $50 per camera plus a micro sd card to store about 2 weeks of footage.....and there is no monthly or annual fees
ОтветитьUse different software like i did ISPY or AGENT NVR are 2 great ones that give all the bells and whistles including things like plate readers and face recog and other things u can use from plug ins best thing is it works with 98% of cameras sold today
ОтветитьHehe
ОтветитьAwhhh Jake looked so young back in 2018🤣
ОтветитьCould we get an updated video of this subject? Going all the way for like 6 cameras?
ОтветитьThis is all nice but you're only talking to your target audience. The below average Joe will get the Nest, plug it in and sign up for whatever because that's who Nest is targeting.
ОтветитьIs the camera powered by POE? or does it require power and Network Connection?
ОтветитьDon't forget that the internet was really made by Darpa, along with Facebook, twitter, etc. So the Military, ABC agencies can have access to every single thing in your life, along with ring doorbell spying on you and call the police on you when it feels like. So pay those monthly fee's to put yourself in jail even if you done nothing but believe in something different than the Gov, Facebook, ring, etc. Hope, I got the spelling right, my eyes bad, tiny keyboard. Sucks getting old. Stay frosty.
Ответить👏👏
ОтветитьYou can buy a real much better camera for 50.00 without all the extra steps.
ОтветитьI am in Russia in the Jewish Autonomous Oblast who will deliver to Russia and accept Rubles for payment?
ОтветитьGotta be the worst/clumsiest advert segue Ive seen linus do. LMAO
Ответить@Linus Tech Tips, your way is cool, I like it alot but, if uh, if you're interested in some good cameras as cheap as a raspberry pi and or somthing expensive that will guarantee 24/7 protection and full control with easy user ui, feel free to ask. I install a wide variety of systems alot. So if you need any questions answered feel free to ask
ОтветитьI can understand companies not wanting to deal with customers calling up wanting directions how to do their own personal recording without paying monthly fees, but they should still at least have a 'backdoor' way that they don't advertise, so those who actually are savvy enough to do it themselves can choose to do that. Takes liability off the company, but gives consumers a lot more freedom in how they use the things they purchase.
ОтветитьThe problem today: Its hard to buy a raspberry pi zero
ОтветитьDam Jake what happened
ОтветитьFor that price they should monitoring your house themselves.
ОтветитьWay to complicated, it can be done much more easy
Ответитьthe $50 cheap motion tracking wifi cameras on amazon are pretty cool, they have an app with a high server price but unlike nest you can actually catch the video from the camera on linux over the network and save the video to your pc or server. you can still control the camera with the app and use all the features like the microphone and speaker.
ОтветитьThe office space reference was perfect, lol
ОтветитьI have two Nest cameras and I pay $8.00 a month for 5 day review. No big deal.
Ответитьare they in use?
ОтветитьThat heatsink is absolutely adorable
ОтветитьNow that Wyze has RTSP available for their webcams, boom! $20-$40 production grade cameras. Indoor and outdoor!
ОтветитьPretty sure it was my idea to hire you in th first place
