I’m in biomed now and I am at the point where I don’t know whether to take a placement year or to continue onto third year and to take the risk and start applying to med school. Or should I take a placement year(but I know this isn’t for me) and then graduate a year later onto then getting ready for med school? What did you do?

"If you do fail it might just because you're not good enough at that point in time" - it doesn't mean you will fail in life you just need more time to develop yourself as a person. Thank you for mentioning this, I genuinely think it's such an important point for young people to understand especially when it comes to failures.

Yeah honestly I learnt the hard way that from grade 10 smart's alone wont do u any good u need to work hard
I would normally study a day before a test and still get 90% but from grade 10, that never worked

I was really lazy and now I am at the point where i have to write important exams. I tried to learn as much as possible in a littler amount of time and realized that I was able to have 5 different topics in my head. But then I was so nervous because I set myself under high pressure and got a bad Grade. I probably felt stupid and I maybe I won’t make my A-Level this year. I still work hard to get kinda through it I already have found a university that accepted me,knowing i am not that good. Hopefully I will make it 🙏

Here's his advice: to spare your 11 minutes

1) The reason he didn't get into medical school was because he was lazy & underestimated the interview process.
2) After defeat, although theres grief, we need to go back to the drawing board to identify our problems so we can fix them.
3) We all have different stages in life where we get it together. Emotion intelligence is important, not just IQ.
4) We need to grow in our skills in character through learning from others. This will prepare us for facing the challenges ahead with more confidence.

I had an unplanned gap year last year because I moved abroad and didn’t reach the application deadline, so by default I have to submit my application and other requirements to nursing school for the incoming academic year. I just got the results a week ago and.... unfortunately I didn’t get in. I was sooo heartbroken and depressed but I know in my heart that it’s not my fault. The university required for the interested applicants to have grades in science and math (basically someone who came from a STEM strand) but back in the country where I studied highschool, the strands we chose don’t matter even if we go to colleges that aren’t aligned with our chosen strands. I didn’t know this beforehand so it was definitely a big disadvantage at my situation. I thought I would be at least accepted into the foundation program.... apparently that’s not the case since they didn’t open the slot for it. I’m stuck in this position of doubting my life choices more than ever. I might have to go for another round of gap year. But now that I know I want to stick with nursing and pursue it, I want to give it another try.

It comforts me that I’m not alone in this miserable battle. Thank you for sharing your story and letting people be at ease and more driven to chase their ambitions. Sending you the best of luck in your endeavors :)
