Is the British citizenship test getting too hard? Let’s see

Yeah, I could be a Brit if I wanted to, but I Don't.

For a test called "Life in the UK", there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info on life in the UK (things you would be expected to know to function in modern British society, e.g. laws)

It's simple to get british citizenship....get on a rubber dinghy in France...come across the channel...get picked up by our free rnli or border farce water taxi service...get into Dover...you are then supplied with free 4* hotel accommodation...free spending money, dental, medical etc...all paid for by the UK taxpayer........

I cannot fathom why anyone would want to be British. I wish I could be classified as something other than British.

I got the dates wrong so i got less than 75%....maybe 50% & i'm ok with British history!

I guess the pub quiz is more of a British phenomena than I realised if that's all you need to pass to get citizenship 😆

The city of London is a local authority, it should have said greater London. Some of these are worded poorly.

Bloody Hell I'm English, well educated and I got 8 correct of which I guessed 3 of them. Its a totally bonkers test.

I was born in the UK and have lived here my entire life, I even got a GCSE in History and I still only got 15/24

Some of those questions are a bit tricky! I only just passed, so if I wasn't a fan of Jay Foreman I probably would have got the London councils question wrong and wouldn't have made the 75%. Not sure why that was is deemed required knowledge to be honest; it's for UK citizenship not London citizenship.

The City of London has 25 local authorities, called wards. Question #6 should be asking how about Greater London where 32 of the 33 local government areas are boroughs, the remaining one being the City of London itself.

bro I've lived in the uk for my whole life and I got 12/24, its way too hard. Should be things that are actually relevant like laws and stuff

Gotta love watching an American and Italian talk about "obvious" British culture that I, who was born British & has lived here my entire life got maybe 6-7 out of 24.

What a shoddy, useless test. The questions shouild be written so that the answers are either "Marmite" or "Benny Hill" ~~ anything else is uneccesary.

It's a ridiculous test used to placate Britons desire to stiffen immigration. Britons want an end to illegal and economic migration. Those coming over in Dinghies pretending to be asylum seekers. We want professionals, and no criminal record, in the professions that we choose that we need to fill.

As someone from England I can tell you some of this stuff in the tests you wouldn't even know unless you paid good attention in history class or watch tv every single day LOL

No , it’s like any important exam, if you want to pass ,like it or lump it, you have to WORK HARD at revision. If you want a citizenship pass, to a country that will shelter you, provide free health care, educate both you and your children etc. then don’t winge study . It may come has a surprise to people but NOTHING IMPORTANT in this life comes free.

can i just say that none of these questions are important 2 know when u immigrate 2 a country...

ask questions like do you know the value of said coin , do you know the laws about this this and that subject, etc .

cultural norms like being silent after 10 for example .

these things are way more important then some dumb questions about history things .. what point does it make 2 know what war in what time happened ,,who needs this info ..

knowing it is nice for some** people , but definitely unnecessary for 99% of the world.

These are weird questions half of them has nothing to do about like British government or past. Who cares about tennis players and some of the dumb stuff asked at beginning of test. Even 1998 population kinda dumb.

I have a law degree from a top university in the UK and was born and bred there. I did not know immediately the answers to 8 of them. Deport me 😂 people either know facts or they don't it doesn't mean anything it's a really stupid test.

Poor Ellie . I could not believe how badly constructed that quiz was. What the Maga Carta was and what are the concepts that it introduced are MUCH more important than any dates. The same is for Boudicca. Who she was is far more important than where her statue is located. The idea behind the citizenship tests is that people applying for British citizenship gain an understanding of the history, culture and values that are important to British people!, not a memory test of unimportant and irrelevant dates. I think you and your viewers could and should devise a much better quiz!

This sounds like UK trivia rather than a citizenship test.
