I'd say always resign if you intend to leave the game. It pisses me off so much when people disconnect instead of resigning, forcing you to waste time.

Once I blundered my queen and my opponent won at the end but I made it really hard for him and I refused to give up because my pieces had a better setting. Still at the end he judged me and insulted me for not giving up. I dont give a fuck about his opinion because to make experience without a queen is valid and important.

The best part about an opponent resigning fearing loss is that I am worse than martin with the fact i sometimes miss mate in 1

I don't agree. I resign when I'm not having fun. I am not going to keep playing even if winning is possible when I'm not having fun.

i also love queenside castling but ur about the only IM i cant trust when they say queenside castling is the best move because i know how much you want to play it

Once I was down 2 rooks, a queen and a bishop in the endgame, with only 3 pawns, and accidentally checkmated them with the pawns. Never had a better moment

I'm only rated 480 and I miss mate sometimes but still win a few moves later. Then I kick myself during the review for missing them. It's nice to see higher rated players miss it too.

i shouldve submitted the game i played a few days ago for this video. idek how i won when i was 5 pieces down with only a knight and a rook and my king was running from checks yet i still somehow ended up checkmating. 500 elo is great man

My most sincere apologies, I often do this if my opponent’s up material in endgames and pushing pawns my king and rook simply cannot babysit all at once and will inevitably beat my own pawns. I did, however, just learn the forced mate when down to a single rook against a lone king- which I failed to do against my dad long ago, we drew by the 50 move rule. And I’ve been able to checkmate with only a queen left for ages.

It’s probably because a particularly vindictive player could really punish you for not resigning by promoting to a bunch of knights instead of queens.
