I took a restaurant out of business using Yelp. The portions were small, the waiter was rude, the food was overpriced. and when I ordered an alcoholic drink with no ice, they brought me less than quarter of a cup of alcohol.

I did a one star review of my therapist and boy did I tell it all. One person even messaged me to thank me and said she was sorry I suffered so much. After a year of my review being up Yelp filters it into currently not recommended. So I deleted my Yelp account. Mean people always win. Don't ever stay in a situation where a business treats you like garbage. Don't post reviews. It will steal your peace. If they are truly awful at their jobs other clientele will let them know. I have stopped being a martyr. Yelp is garbage both for business and customers. I have a way with words, consider myself a good writer and sometimes it makes people angry.

I'm gonna sue someone that has posted a review of 1 star in our business without saying the whole story in her statement or saying only what's the best for her after we answered her by the phone. So people be aware out there because as the attorney said the First Amendment Right doesn't give you the right to defame someone and it could make you receieve a lawsuit.

This isn't free speech. Those of you in the legal field know this is open and shut defamation. She messed up by saying he gave her a diagnosis to intentionally extort her or whatever. That's literally defamation and she will lose.

Funny, we can RARELY EVER sue doctors no matter what happens but doctors can sue patients for the littlest things????? I was intentionally harmed last year and this better never happen to me because I can prove everything.

The first mistake was using her real name. Also, doctors are becoming car salesmen; specially dieticians; not to mention dentists. The dentist got upset because I didn't let them remove my wisdom teeth. Telling me that they are difficult to clean even though I don't have cavities.

That review reeked of defamation

So, the doctor sued because he didn’t like what she had to say...? That’s not shady at all.

I wrote a negative comment on a lawyer in Google. He threatened to sue me if it isnt removed. I feel i can exercise my freedom of speech. I wish someone with a legal mind would read my review and give me their opinion.

That’s why one of the questions in my intake is “where did you hear about us?” If the answer is Yelp then I don’t see that patient. From my experience only patients that get a bill such as their share of cost write bad reviews because they expect everything to be free. If you’re crossing your doctor based on a yelp review your making a big mistake. Who to choose as a doctor should be based on doctor recommendation or a friend or family. Not some random person who expected free medical care and ended up with a bill. When you take your car to the mechanic, do you expect them to just look at your car and tell you what’s wrong with it without any diagnostic testing? Well why would you expect to go for a physical and not expect tests to be ordered or performed?

The part where she wrote "...intentionally given out to scare me to collect more money for a second visit..." is what got her in trouble. That part is nothing, but superstition unless she can prove the Doctor's intentions.

Yelp reviewers are true douche bags.

If it's true, then it's not defamatory. If she's basing her review on her experience, and she has proof, it's not a lie. Who is this Areva Martin??? The intent is not to defame. It's the truth. She's warning other patients. She has a right to do so. We'll see what happens!

Luckily, since yelp holds phone number contact info, businesses can reach out to client regarding their review. Personally, i wrote an honesst review of my orthodontist with praise and some uncormfortable service incidents i had that i feared would continue and i waited a yr to write it. So. I did. Then , next day i was phoned and asked why, but luckily i didnt face lawsuits like here ,just “awkward” one-on-one phone call from the receptionist.
