Introduction to Carl Jung - Individuation, the Persona, the Shadow, and the Self

I have "Lucid Nightmares" EVERY night where i actually know that i am dreaming but still wants to stay there to experience the whole thing. I also remember most parts of these dreams and i could put those memories in a really thick but somewhat abstract book if i wanted. Often the landscape is the same and often i have what feels like 100% control as i can walk backwards a few steps and then forward again, go down to the river to dip my feet in order to feel how strange the water feels compared to water in a fully wake state and so on. There is almost Always panic,war, i cant move fast enough while being chased, my weapon does not work properly in war situations, i get panic, have to kill enormous amounts of really scary alien looking creatures hunting me and my friends, i have to swim in sewer water, i get stuck on roofs just at the edge and fear for my life of falling down, i am falling from the sky in a worthless parachute, i get injected with experimental drugs and get mentally disturbed beyond belief, i am anxious and searching for Benzodiazepines but all the pills look strange to me so i can't really take any, i am witnessing a human study on sick mutations with some kind of "Alien" stuff and everything smells and looks like hell, i am fighting for my life with a sword and heads are not as easy to cut of in reality as in movies, i am naked in school, have to use the bathroom but every single one is flooded with poop, my stuff gets lost and i am searching desperately for what seems to days but the sun does never rise, U Name it.. Every night. So i may have some problems(i have Generalized anxiety, Seasonal affective disorder, OCD, ADHD, and Dysthymia) and that stress is what i am experiencing every night i believe. Thank you for making this video about Carl Jung. It made me want to read his books and dive deeper into it.

What I find most concerning is that we're living in an age where social media algorithms give cheap reward to those who identify and build personas accepted by the masses. Our saving grace is that by a miracle of human nature, the only thing that's rewarded more than fitting in is standing out.

Let’s be Clear… Self = Undifferentiated Consciousness, not Dualism

indivituation is the process of integrating your unconscious elements into a unified whole which happens naturally as all elements of the unconscious seek outward expression. four important archetypes are the person, shadow, anima/animus and the self.

Ther persona is the personality we portray to other people. Thus it enables us to fit into the group and is the connection between our ego and other people, but over identification with it will increase the size of your shadow. It is oriented outward hmmmm.

The shadow are elements of our personality which we have shut out from our conscious experience (is'nt cause they are incongruent with the way we perceive ourselves?, also in most groups there is a them us divide which is only possible to engage in through supressing some elements of your psyche, well it only makes sense to engage in if you belive you dont share the same flaws as the other group). But the shadow still has a powerful effect on our emotions, thoughs and behaviours, even though we tell ourselves we dont possess those traits or qualities. So the shadow counts as being part to the personnel unconscious or at least its particular content? Another important thing to note of the shadow would be it consists not of things which are inherently "bad" and counts as any suppressed areas of your personality, which were possibly suppressed as to fit into the group, thus conforming.

why does the anima/animus serve as the connection between the personnel conscious and the collective unconscious? how does it protect us?

why does encounters with the anima/animus lead to encountering the archetype of wholeness/self?


so the goal of life and the goal of individuation is to assimilate unconscious elements and so move the ego to a closer approximation to the self.

I know that the journey for attaining Individuation is never ending but that’s ok because everything in the universe and probably in the supernatural realms are also never ending and eternal .

When I was a young man , returning to my home town after travelling for more than a year, I really noticed the " persona" many of my schoolmates had adopted since beginning their careers. In some cases it was quite shocking ,how quickly they had changed so much. At the time I knew nothing about Jung , but I thought of it as a " mask" they had adopted. Jung is definitely one of the most important shaman of our times ,I would suggest

Just because people are joining groups, doesn't mean they all think the same and will no longer have seperate personalities, that is just a ridiculous idea. People can join one group i.e a union for their economic well-being, whilst simultaneously holding completely seperate ideas to each other on all sorts of things, this is not a complex idea.

Dreams are for those who sleep, Vision governs the awakened. Carl Jung was all centred on the Human Nature, which is irredeemable. There are only two kinds of people: those under the control of the Human Nature, and those under the control of the Spirit. The Human Nature is always at enmity with the Spirit, marred with confusion, and devoid of peace. Everything govern by the Human Nature tends towards Death and Perishability, but everything govern by the Spirit tends towards Eternity and Immortality.

Induviduation is the act of Rebel Wisdom that's trying to find and integrate itself by peeling all the layers and then reintegrating them to not be parts Self but by becoming a Whole Individual without any resistance to any part of the Self.
One of the finest egs put out, I feel, in todays world is Martha Beck's Way to Integrity, Andre Agassi's Open and IFT by Richard Schwartz.

Is Anima pronounced like the speaker hear pronounces it - enema? I know its Latin and having taken Spanish I wouldn't think so, but am curious. I woke up one day hearing it and it didn't sound like enema

My shadow consciously and unconsciously appear because I refuse to understand the self. My fragile ego won’t allow it.

I listen to a lot of long-format lectures... I love this content... There is NO chance I can absorb one second of this with the "reading' cadence of the speaker. Dude... GET NATURAL
