I'm not sufficiently tech savvy to follow this guide unfortunately - looks scary. I found your post by by searching for Book Lib Connect which the program AAX Converter apparently now needs to work (in its original iteration it was stand alone) but now I'm lost in a sea of stuff I don't understand and I'm no further forward. Seems like Audible's plan is working perfectly in my case...

Hi Shawn thanks for the video - I learn a whole lot but have stumbled at the last step. I get the code from the aax file I downloaded but when I run ./rcrack . -h with this code I get an error "10 rainbow tables found" "terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::exception'" "what(): std::exception" "Aborted (core dumped)" I've tried doing it all again but get the same error - any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?

Hello Shawn. Ive been looking all over internet for information on how to remove DMR from an OLD song I did more the 20 years ago. I cant find anyting thats helpful, just dodgey pages with random programs to download. I know you use linux, but do you have any tips for me. Its an WMA-file. Thank you

Thank you, very much. This worked PERFECTLY for my AAX files. But Audible for Windows 11 is switching to the Android App which stores the files in AAXC format. I see where FFMPEG is supposed to support AAXC format but when I try these steps with the AAXC files I get errors. Ideas?

Good to know because we don’t actually own them I read so always need a membership for even bought books and I have hundreds . I was thinking to use an old desktop as a server or file storage for such things .

Hi there. Thank you for the video!! I was just wondering if this would work with an aaxc file as well? Because I find audible super annoying and quite frankly I would much prefer actually buying the audiobooks than using there services but the book i'm looking to convert isn't available in mp3 or cd format for purchase.

Hello Shawn. First of all, thank you for a such educative video. I didn’t knew it was possible to really own our audiobooks. I saw your video twice but i miss a lot of information such as ffmpeg. What happens if the audiobook has many chapters? Do they come out separated? Could you please do a step by step guide from beginning to end (download and installation of the tools, command promt… ecc) for those of us who aren’t as good at tech?

I’ve stayed away from Audible because of the DRM. With this information I’m going to look back in to Audible. Thanks Shawn!

for some reason I can not do audio books. mainly because my mind will wonder, or more specifically will focus on a certain point and the book becomes white noise, and i have to rewind to find where i started to drift. same thing with podcasts. I will use text to speech websites for chapters in text books, but i try to read along (but my mind still wonders). this is not to say that i don't do this reading. if i am tired i will read (and not retain) the same passage several times. that reminds me i need to finish reading hamlet (i still can't follow Shakespeare) . this was a long rant on why i don't use audible 🤷‍♂
