That's why you get mage armor perk which triples the effect of armor spells if not wearing armor that's if you put 3 perk points in it so in total you would have a 300 armor rating which would be really good for a mage. btw I play pure mage as well only robes

does dual casting double it? so that way 300 with perks+double = armor limit
