Again I agree....BUT nobody talks about the big Elephant in the room! Why Nvidia requires 3 8 pin pcie for a rtx 4080 when it uses less power than the 3080 did!?!?!? If a 3080 is ok with 2 8-pin why is a 4080 not? I have seen and done test and the 4080 runs less power than the 3080 so why must they force people who don't know better to upgrade there psu, because people who bought a 750-850 psu years ago won't need to upgrade and the psu companies need sales, thats why! Period. There is no other logical reason. You can use 2 8 pin and 1 daisy chain for your 4080 without issue there is plenty of power where you will never over amp the wires, facts!

i built many pcs over the years, either to sell or for my own, but i didn't really deal with "higher end" gpus
i finally built a 6950xt system for myself, and did the pigtail for it, and noticed stuttering
plugged in 2 individual cables and it took that issue away

Are 6+2 pin PCE, the same as one single eight pin PCI

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you still get the 75w power from the slot itself? Meaning the cable should be able to run up too a 300w card within spec?

what cable i must connect to my 3x8 pin GPU? do i need 1x8pin VGA with 2x8 pin pigtail + 1x8pin VGA and connect only 1 of the 2x8pin pigtail or i'll draw 3x8pin from 3 VGA slots and leave the pigtails flapping around(will that deliver 450 watts into my GPU or the GPU knows how much power to draw)? fks sake i'm confused af

im a little confused. new to the pc game. so basically the cables from the power supply the pci cables. i have two plugged into the gpu is that not right? or should i buy like a adapter? im so confused

What if there are 3 of those but my PSU only has 2 cables with 2 8 pins each??? WTF do they sell it with only 2 cables if their product is not for low end cards.

I have a 3080ti ftw and bought an 850w psu. The psu only comes with 2 power cables. Both of them are pigtail. The gpu has three 8pin connectors. Do I need a new psu or can I use the pigtail?

My Rx5700xt has a TDP of 225 and my PSU to GPU cable is a pigtail😭

I wished I had seen this video 5 min ago. I had an issue with a rx 6800 and my corsair rm850x power supply has 2 of those pigtail connectors. Safe to say that a combination of basic common knowledge and lack of forethought I only used one pcie cable for the graphics card which is enough for low res games but crashes on hi res ones. Had a guy point it out to me to use 2 cables instead of one.

My last card was an RX580 so I had no experience with a card with two power ports
