Thank you for this.
ОтветитьWhere did you find the missal with the Knox translation? I've always liked the Knox Bible.
ОтветитьWhere can I order a Pope Pius the tenth missal from 1959 but up to 1962
ОтветитьI am not catholic but i am in love with the missals specially before vatican 2 ...i have 5 so far 1957,1959,1962,and 2 from 1970 plus a 1970 prayer book and a few other mary devotionals from 1970
ОтветитьRegarding dialogue mass: When I was in Catholic school we were taught to respond as the altar boys did, which is how I learned Latin. Very few adults would respond at mass, but the school children certainly did. When I first began attending mass at SSPX, I noticed I was one of the rare ones who responded. No one told me I shouldn't, so I continue to do so. I remember the nuns telling us our response helps keep us focused on the mass instead of daydreaming.
ОтветитьDoes the Angelus press missal just work for SSPX? I’m not too familiar with their mass if it’s the same to the TLM.
ОтветитьWas there ever a Father Stedman missal for the daily Mass? I only ever see them as Sunday Missal and a special Lent version.
Good video
Hello,
I am confused on how to use a missal. But I have a 1962 Angelus Press Missal. I was wondering if this missal for Latin Mass only? It has translations, but I am confused on whether or not I can use this at regular mass that doesn't do latin mass?
I’m so confused.
ОтветитьPeople should be silent at the priest's private low Mass. You show if the missal has the music and notation for High Mass in the back. Should have the ending prayers by Pope Leo XIII and the added by Pope Pius XII in 1945: "Immaculate Mary, pray for us." (3 times)
I need to buy a new Missal, I wore out (2) and an old missal. Started with St. Joesph when young, my last missal is St. Andrew. I'm leaning towards the Roman Missal, because larger lettering. God Bless you.
There are things in the Missal from Angelus Press that I like, and things in Fr. Lasance's Missal that I don't like.....those things are the daily necessary prayers. Other than that, my preference for Daily Mass is the Fr. Lasance Missal.
ОтветитьI'm looking to replace my Baronius Missal with one that has full text for daily Mass readings so I don't have to flip around the book. What are my options? Taylor Marshall says Fr. Lasance. Is that the only one?
ОтветитьI bought the new Marrian missal printed in 1953 how difficult would it be to follow a normal low mass and high mass using a 1962 tlm
ОтветитьI just purchased a 1961 MaryKnoll Missal , was wondering if that could be used for a TLM missal of 1962
ОтветитьWhere can I purchase a Missal and the cost?
ОтветитьIn my opinion the “most correct “ missal is the Vulgata, and has been for many centuries 😊
ОтветитьGiving the imprimatur date would be very helpful, please?
ОтветитьWhere did you get your Lasance missal rebound?
ОтветитьNice. Something I find disjointing about the Fr. Lasance is how it flips columns from English to Latin being on opposite sides on the different pages. It was very helpful how you compared that St. Andrew reprint with your 1945! I didn't even know the people replying was allowed until this video, so very helpful all around. thanks
ОтветитьHaunt the thrift stores and find an old (pre 1962) Maryknoll Daily Missal. It's one of the best.
ОтветитьA word about the Saint Joseph missals. Any edition made from 1957 onwards will have the more modern translation. If you want the older translation, get one made from 1956 or earlier. The 1955 Saint Joseph missal is interesting, it still has the pre-1955 Holy Week, but has the updated Mass rubrics. 1956 has the new Holy Week, but older translation.
ОтветитьWhy is the Roman Catholic Daily Missal 1962 associated with the sspx?
ОтветитьDialogue masses were a precursor of the abominable Vatican 2 mass. At my diocesan Parish latin Mass, they practiced the Dialogue Mass, but they also had Novus Ordo masses too, unfortunately 😞 I disapprove of that abominable dialogue mass
ОтветитьThat St Paul one is sooo beautiful!!!
ОтветитьMy Fr. Lasance missal doesn't have such tight binding. My last flat. I dont know if yours just needs to be broken in more or if the manufacturer was just a bit more tight in binding then they usually do.
ОтветитьIs there a StAndrews Daily, with soft leather/bendable cover? The one on your table looks hard cover.
ОтветитьIf you could only have one, which one would it be?
ОтветитьThe Missal from Baronius Press says that it is a "1962" Missal, but it is really a "1988" Missal. That means that it includes the Good Friday "We're Sorry" prayer for the descendants of Jacob. The SSPX Missal contains the Good Friday prayer as it actually existed in 1962!
ОтветитьHello. I've never used a Missal, but I'd like to. My questions s, after Novus Ordo, do we need to get "2 sets" of missals? One for TLM and another for Novus? I really want to get the 1962 one.. So I don't know if that will serve me for Novus Ordo too. Thank you.
Ответитьwhy is the printing house in India and not available in India😭
ОтветитьI use the Fr. Lasance reprint and St. Andrew Missal. The Fr. Lasance is a bit more user friendly. The St. Andrew is pre-1954 changes, plus it has lots of great prayers in the back. I don’t like the 1962. You can see the English translations getting more simplified, plus it has the changed Easter week and no faithful’s confetior. My favorite is my grandmother’s 1923 Fr. Lasance Complete Missal.
ОтветитьI live in the Philippines and I was wondering where I can get these?
ОтветитьWhich would you recommend for beginners? I’ve recently looked into the traditional Latin Mass, but I’ve never in my life used a missal. Really helpful stuff, and good video.
ОтветитьDoes the Baronius have thicker pages than the Angelus?
ОтветитьDo all of the prayers in Angelus Press Daily Missal are in Latin and English ?
ОтветитьGreat video! Thanks very much for all the detail. I own a Baronius Press 1962, and I was considering getting a 1945, either St. Andrew or Father Lasance. I do like the Kyrialis in the back of the Baronius Press (I sang with a schola and love Gregorian Chant), and descriptions say the St. Andrew 1945 has a Kyriale. Is it the same as the Baronius Press version?
ОтветитьSt. Andrew wins hands down. IMO.
ОтветитьI have glaucoma... Which missal has the largest, and clearest print? Thsnk you.
ОтветитьIf I were to go to a R.C. Mass on Sunday or a weekday which missal would I need to follow word for word ?
ОтветитьI really like The Cathedral Daily Missal it has many prayers and devotions and also has beautiful colored pictures of the ordinary of Mass. I also like how it includes the old rules of fasting and abstinence. I'm not a big fan of the reprints, because they seem to cost more and aren't made as well the used ones. Eventually all of the used one's will be gone...
ОтветитьDoes it have the Daily Readings and Gospels?
ОтветитьI bought the limited reprint Angelus Press Leather. its beautiful. hasnt given me any issues. Get a water resistant case.
ОтветитьQuestion from a new Catholic: do people read the Missal daily at home or just when they attend Mass.
ОтветитьI have the Baronius Press 1962 daily Missal, and I am unhappy with it because it seems that it doesn’t have the weekday masses, just Sundays, certain feast days, Holy Week, and the proper of Saints.
ОтветитьDo you have the latin missal with english translation? So if Im attending latin mass I will be able to follow?
ОтветитьHi Paul - really helpful video! Quick couple of questions: Regarding the St. Paul Missal - there is a version of the St. Paul online today - about 2,600 pages. Is that the same (only newer) Missal as the one you displayed? (I think I read on here that your St. Paul Missal was a late-1950s edition?) - Does the St. Paul Missal include BOTH Latin and English for a large part of the Proper(s)?
The missal I am looking for would be minimally pre-1960 rubric (pre-1955 would be even better if possible) - and I would like as much of the daily/Sunday/feasts, etc. Propers as possible to include the Latin (as opposed to the missals where the readings and prayers are English only). Do I understand that the St. Andrew (1945-edition from St. Bonaventure) includes Latin in a significant part of the Propers?
Much appreciation and thanks for any guidance you can give me! God bless you!
Wow, what a magnificent Missal collection 🤗 !!! Thank you for this comparison, very interesting and helpful.
My go to is the Fr. Lasance Daily Missal reprint. Currently on the lookout for a vintage one though. Love the Latin next to the English, it's very easy to follow along and helps to improve fluidity in Latin. The illustrations with explanations are wonderful as well, the more the better (imo)!
I hear the St. Andrew may have more illustrations but overall the Fr. Lasance feels more complete/ has the most to offer. Does your St. Andrew have more illustrations than the Fr. Lasance?
I was not sure if you had a vintage Fr. Lasance and a modern reprint in your collection? If you do, are there any differences between them or is the modern reprint an authentic reproduction of the original?
Another question, do you have any vintage Catholic, pre V2, prayer books, like the Fr. Lasance prayer book or others which have the Latin and English?
How much did it cost to have your Missal rebound? That's something I'd be very interested in.
Hope to hear back from you, Thanks again!🕊🙂🌟
I'm like a big kid...I need visuals. Of the Missals reviewed above, I like the 1953 St. Joseph Missal the best. (For Sunday Mass I use the 'St. Edmund Campion Missal & Hymnal" filled with actual color photographs and beautiful black and white art work. The Missal is extremely easy to follow with only one ribbon and large print.
ОтветитьWhat can you tell me about that St. Andrew Bible Missal? I have one at my parents house and have thought about having them send it to me to attend TLM.
Ответить
