Wow,

She said a whole lot of nonsense!

She sounds like a judgmental colorist and featurist . Pretty is pretty. Why does she associate having green eyes, looser textured hair, and lighter skin with beauty?

Why is she judging the women who are using their pretty privilege to do what they need to to provide for themselves or their families? It doesn’t mean that they aren’t smart either. Why is it any of her business?

Everyone has privileges that they benefit off of especially because we live in a capitalistic society that wants to capitalize off of any and everything that they can get their greedy hands on.

She knows that being pretty for a woman in society is important otherwise she wouldn’t be in this platform presenting with makeup and clothing as if it’s not a big deal.

Stop the cap.

As a black woman in a lot of male dominated industries, my beauty has opened up doors for me. Beauty is a gift. Feminity is a gift. It should be utilized as a tool but that shouldnt be your only tool in your tool box. Sometimes beauty will get you in the door but your intellect gets you a seat at the table. I always wanted to be respected for my intellect. Not for my skin tone, body, or looks. Lets be clear, the world treats you differently too according to your looks. Ive had tore up days where I didnt receive half of the perks that I receive when I was all dolled up. Yes pretty is a privilege. But it also comes with its costs like being objectified, people wanting to possess you, use you, and lots of jealousy and envy!

I started a new job in private security about a month and 2 weeks ago. Last week my boss was walking through and saw me doing some good work throughout the day. He said "I see you keep it up" my response was "I'm trying". He paused and said "I know you're trying, that's why I said it, but don't forget to say thank you for the compliment my man." My point, is it's okay to just accept a compliment graciously, regardless of if you feel it's that deep. Pretty women can be a Buffy the Body / Sukihana, type or they could be Angela Rye / Joy Taylor type. Sounds like your daughter will be the latter. And for that she is blessed to have you as a mother. Stay blessed. 🙏🏽

I quite agree with her! I applaud her on being self aware and not operating on a superficial level.
My understanding of what she said is don't depend on 'pretty privilege to get you anyway.
She acknowledged pretty privilege does exist and also that 'light skin' is elevated . She didn't create colorism. It exist. That's why she is wise to EDUCATE, her daughter that people will gravitate to her on that basis but, she(her daughter) will need intellect and discernment to navigate this madness.
GREAT JOB MOM.

And this is where mothers need help from the the village of women surrounding them in raising their daughters to stand 10 toes down in their worth 1st I have no children but I have three beautiful goddaughters and I always remind them yes you are beautiful but you are humble first beauty is only skin deep it's what's in that brain of yours that's the most beautiful thing about you and how you care and love and take care of yourself, and to me that's how women Empower young women not by teaching them to be a bunch of AirHeads that are vain because beauty is fleeting!

I know it isn’t easier said than done, but i think the expectance of beauty is for you to look for within your own self. It doesn’t matter if most don’t think you’re beautiful that is their own opinion of you and you must discover that opinion on you’re own, because if you allow the “beauty standards” of the world to depict how you should look you will forever be unhappy. People love yourselves and happiness will find you, why get mad because you don’t look like— , or you’re not shaped like—, people can’t control how they look but they can use it to better the world and themselves, to not use it maliciously or to tear down others, and if all else fails just love yourself until you attract what/ who you need, I’m a firm believer that there is somebody for everybody

Just stop putting and emphasis on other people’s beauty and apply it on yours, because pretty privilege isn’t going anywhere and we need to just acknowledge it accept it and grow from it. ✨

I feel like taking a compliment about your looks is ok but it’s how you do it. Like my momma say it’s not what you say it’s how you say it.

I love her opinion👏🏾👑, because that's exactly what females do these days. Use their beauty for money and/or make it to the top.... Some guys will only see a pretty girl better show him you know how to open a book too📖 🤷🏽‍♀️

Firstly she's conflating colorism(light skin privilege) with pretty privilege. AND she's inadvertently demeaning women and spreading misogynist ideas about the value of beauty in life/society. For the record, there is nothing inherently wrong with being beautiful and proud of your beauty.
Naomi Campbell has pretty privilege but not white/light skin privilege. Naomi is also a goddess who has to WORK HARD to express such transcendent beauty as well as STAY beautiful far into her old age. BEAUTY is an art AND a skillset. And there's no need to diminish the value and importance of it just to make a point about unearned privilege.
But just like other gifts (athletic, intelligence), yes, beauty can be inherited genetically and therefore "unearned". But just like other gifts (athleticism, intellect etc), you WORK to grow and maintain these gifts and turn them into skills/expertise.
Then we can have a separate conversation about the undue over-importance society may place on a woman's Beauty and how that affects the development of a young girls identity in today's times.

From a psychological stand point. That wasn't good to say. It appears she was diminishing her looks and not allowing her to relish in them. Being pretty is a beautiful thing. But it also adds more to you when you have brains to match. Having a good heart, and spirit helps as well. Always remain humble. Use your privilege to assist others. It is okay to take compliments from others. BLK people need to learn how to talk to one another without making the other feel bad.

This is so damaging. Just because you're pretty doesn't automatically mean you're going to end up on a pole, a prostitute, or laying on your back for money. I have never done any of those things and am light-skinned with blue eyes. And what you're teaching your daughter is detrimental. I get teaching her to be smart cuz that's what my father did but sitting up there telling her not to accept a compliment because she's pretty will lead her to nothing but toxic relationships with Men because she's going to think she's not pretty because you put that in her head. I have a mother that is exactly like you are and I don't speak to her till this day because of all the toxicity she has brought to my life. What's even crazier is this is a married woman being a pick-me chick on a single man's podcast where one man has stated in serval videos he doesn't need a woman and what she brings to the table and had a rebuttal for everything. So you diss your daughter to get validation from single men when the only man who needs to validate you is your husband. You keep this up lady you will be another statistic of being divorced.

MARRIED WOMAN DON'T BELONG ON SINGLE MEN ESPECIALLY RED PILL, OR ALPHA MALE PODCAST. Why are you here? You are the prize to your husband.

Accept The Compliment And Relax! 'Ugly' Females Get Compliments As Well. Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder. I Think What That Female Has Experienced Is The Privilege Of Light Skin Not Beauty. If She Was Able Too Make Her Skin Darker, She Would Have A Different Experience. Also Don't Call Your Beautiful Daughter From God A N*g*@ $tay Blessed 🙏
