Gr8 recording to share and likely would have been sublime LIVE!
ОтветитьMerci !
ОтветитьPope Gregory XVI, Summo Iugiter Studio, May 27, 1832, on no salvation outside the Church: “You know how zealously Our predecessors taught that article of faith which these dare to deny, namely the necessity of the Catholic faith and of unity for salvation… Omitting other appropriate passages which are almost numberless in the writings of the Fathers, We shall praise St. Gregory the Great who expressly testifies that THIS IS INDEED THE TEACHING OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. He says: ‘The holy universal Church teaches that it is not possible to worship God truly except in her and asserts that all who are outside of her will not be saved.’ Official acts of the Church proclaim the same dogma. Thus, in the decree on faith which Innocent III published with the synod of Lateran IV, these things are written: ‘There is one universal Church of all the faithful outside of which no one is saved.’ Finally the same dogma is also expressly mentioned in the profession of faith proposed by the Apostolic See, not only that which all Latin churches use, but also that which… other Eastern Catholics use. We did not mention these selected testimonies because We thought you were ignorant of that article of faith and in need of Our instruction. Far be it from Us to have such an absurd and insulting suspicion about you. But We are so concerned about this serious and well known dogma, which has been attacked with such remarkable audacity, that We could not restrain Our pen from reinforcing this truth with many testimonies.”
Pope Eugene IV, The Council of Florence, “Exultate Deo,” Nov. 22, 1439:“Holy baptism, which is the gateway to the spiritual life, holds the first place among all the sacraments; through it we are made members of Christ and of the body of the Church. And since death entered the universe through the first man, ‘unless we are born again of water and the Spirit, we cannot,’ as the Truth says, ‘enter into the kingdom of heaven’ [John 3:5]. The matter of this sacrament is real and natural water.”
One year ago and the IDOLATRY of those danged masks stilled visible!
ОтветитьCongratulations to Owen Rees and the entire Company for this most superb performance of Messiah. It was sublime. Thank you.
ОтветитьBut a Christmas this is it right here. It’ll play in my house at least once a day. Evenings with a cup of hot something. 😊❤🎉
ОтветитьSo many wonderful lovers of Classical Music around the world. How is it I never meet or encounter any classical music lovers? In USA, Europe? UK? Where are you hiding?
ОтветитьMe faz ter certeza de que a humanidade vai ser civilizada!! Gratidão ❤🙏🏻
Ответитьmuchas gracias por este vídeo, y por este material para aprender,
ОтветитьMy you all enjoy this Christmas in this present troubled world,God is with us to guide and bless us.
ОтветитьRefiners Fire: Sung well but no passion. Dead pan face
ОтветитьRichard,.like this instruments concert music nice to listen to.
ОтветитьBravo! Thank you for sharing this beautiful performance.
ОтветитьWhat a combination! The inimitable AAM under Owen Rees, together with so many talented young choristers and soloists. Exquisite diction by all which never got in the way of the beauty of the words and music. The choir was top notch. Ashley Riches is an imposing, lyrical power house of a bass; Ted Black has a beautiful but commanding tenor voice allayed with stirring emotion; Esther Brazil has an amazingly full mezzo range, rich and melodic throughout while delivered with cut glass clarity; Rowan Pierce elicited feelings of exaltation with such conviction and beauty. They were all such a pleasure to listen to.
ОтветитьAbsolutely superb. Lovely to see Jonny again.
ОтветитьAre the musicians using period instruments as well as period bows?
ОтветитьGreat performance! A little too slow, which loses some dramatic effect, but overall spirited, in tune and optimistic.
ОтветитьAnybody out there, who feels the power of religion and faith ?
ОтветитьThere's not enought words to describe how this presentation is. Simply DIVINE. Very very grateful to watch and hear it. Thank you all.
ОтветитьMy wife and I attended. Thrilling!
ОтветитьSimplemente Hermoso!!
ОтветитьHandel Messiah is my all time favourite work and this performance is up there with the best that I have had the pleasure of listening to. Sublime! And as an aside , In my opinion, the best performances of this masterpiece that I have heard have all been with small orchestras, small choirs and intimate venues, and has to be said...brilliant recording technicians!!
ОтветитьMagnificent performance, and extra points for whoever thought it would be a good idea to stand that giant tenor next to the miniature alto on the front row. Really satisfied my sense of proportion :)
ОтветитьThis is wonderful! Thank you!
ОтветитьIt is so beautiful to see it performed by native English speakers.
ОтветитьThank you for this sublime performance that I am sharing on 5 December 2023. The soloists were perfection personified. The entire orchestra and choir — and the audience — were thrilling (and discernibly thrilled). May the Messiah Himself reward each and every one of you — believer as well as unbeliever — for your devotion and your love of Music! Have a blessed, safe, healthy and immensely satisfying Christmastide and a peaceful, prosperous, Happy New Year! One and all!
ОтветитьAbsolutely beautiful. A wonderful performance by all.
ОтветитьWho shall stand when He appeareth, ... This should have been sung with man's, base part: It's hateful, satanic!
ОтветитьWow. Just Wow. When I want to hear the Messiah, I always look for the video with the biggest choir. It just goes to show what can be done with a small group of people with beautiful singing voices. This is an outstanding performance. My go to Messiah from this day forward. For anyone who is looking--don't pass up this one. Merry Christmas 2023 everyone.
ОтветитьI always looks for a large choir performance of the Messiah; but this is perfection. It must be all those beautiful voices. Go figure. You learn something new every day I love this performance. It's my new favorite. I think Jesus would love this... Merry Christmas everyone. God Bless you all.
Ответить🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧The bald headed violinist family must be funding this, since they can’t keep the camera off him. Damn he’s not the only one playing an instrument!
ОтветитьWhatever language you may use, that's a universal masterpiece, bravo
ОтветитьMy parents would always play the entire Messiah on records each Christmas season. I now have it imprinted as a childhood memory although most other details of childhood have evaporated from conscious memory. Such richness! This alone made me an 18th century artistic enthusiast and historian.
ОтветитьI've heard and done myself dozens of Messiahs with anyone from the Berlin Philharmonic to small town USA over almost five decades and I must say that this one is pretty much at the level of what you get in a smallish town here in Germany: grand names obviously don't guarantee a grand performance.
Way too slow, way too little actually taking the text in and performing it out, it sometimes almost sounds as if it was performed on a first reading or as a class assignment.
This may not be opera, but it very closest thing Händel could do at the time and that means not just hitting the notes, but acting: if you don't mean what you're singing, stay away!
And that is really a shame, because it seems that technially everybody could do a pretty good job, if they could just work up a bit of passion.
*
But then there is Owen Rees, and he is probably the reason the rest of the recording seems so bad, because he is quite simply outstanding!
Not only does he have the perfect voice, can cover the entire bass range with the seemingly effortless presence that very, very few bass singers ever manage: in that reminds me of one of the greatest, Kurt Moll.
And never having fight for presence, range, tone, volume or color he puts everything into acting it out with a perfect combination of diction, tembre, modulation, musical expressivness and technique. He has really studied that work, thought through every phrase down to the very word, modulates with incredible precision every start and finish like the most elegant serifs in calligraphy. That again is something typically just tenors like Peter Schreier manage.
Of course, the camera should perhaps stay away a bit further away from that mouth that he opens so wide to perfect the tone, not to have it dive in!
But closing my eyes and repeating every recitativ and aria several times, I can't think of any way to do it any better: it's a truly great performance! Bravo! Da capo!
Simply beautiful, thank you.
ОтветитьG.Friderich Handel Messiah forever ❤
ОтветитьAs Handel knew very well, there is something irresistibly sensuous and lithe and emotionally intoxicating about a choir of young women aged, shall we say, 19 to 22.
The purity of intonation, and ability to soar over most instruments in a baroque band, and hit sustained notes between, say, C4 and C6, is very erotically charged.
Not least becasue at that pitch and intensity it is highly evocative of a women screaming through orgasm - in an idealised manner, naturally.
Regrettably, the English are such insufferable and giggling hypocrites regarding the reality of love, and so often disconnected from the sensuality of their bodies, that these elementary truths are treated as more toxic than arsenical powders.
Love andrea
All Hail King Jesus!
ОтветитьMaguinifico!!! Lindo !!! Emocionante!!!
ОтветитьBeautiful
ОтветитьBrilliant! Moving! Wow! I want to grow up to be that bass. Just the best.
Ответить¡Cry!
ОтветитьIt's so strange that I don't see a person of color amongst the players. And yet we that most of the winners in competitions are Asians. So either Asians don't want to join this group, or they are rejected because of the color of their skin.
ОтветитьI'm a little taken a back at how unprofessional the formal dress is for the women.
ОтветитьThis is one of the best musical interpretations of Messiah that I have seen....But I wonder why in the 3rd part they didn't introduce "Then shall be brought to pass", O death where is thy sting", and "But thanks be to God".
