Nah, continue to let folks rent the big ships at IAE too. It's a VERY limited time frame regardless. The 600i can be borrowed for free for several days, sure, but I've had the 600i as a daily driver since June 2018. 2 days vs forever.
Irl, trade expos let you check out cars and yachts you probably can't afford, and car dealerships will actually let you drive cars off the lot to try out and even take for an independent inspection if you have the right collateral / credit.
Just started the game yesterday, everything has a good feel but I have NO IDEA what I’m doing
Once I crashed the tutorial ship it was all overrr
I figured out the first hauling contract though, it’s hard with an Aurora but getting me comfortable with flying
I think I can stick with it; damn it’s a tough time
A lot of people don't understand software development. In the alpha phase, devs add the features and core mechanics to the game. That doesn't mean all aspects of the mechanic works, just that it exists and has a proof of concept. These mechanics will then be fleshed out and polished in the beta phase. CIG is having to play a balancing game of making the mechanics fleshed out just enough to satisfy gamers but not enough to have to spend all of their time on developing that one feature further. Another example of alpha development is that they added the tutorial function and technically speaking, it works. It may not do the job of teaching you the game yet, but the core functionality works and the framework is in place. That was all they needed to complete in this phase of development.
ОтветитьDang it's been that long already
ОтветитьGood Vid
ОтветитьDope vid man. I said it before and ill say it again, its really dope how you learn it by yourself. Very respectable and also makes your videos extra interesting. Also AI has been way more deadly in 4.0 😎
ОтветитьThe tutorial breaking is bad, but for that there are Videos like the "New Player Guide to Star Citizen" from Morphologis, where you can follow along like you would with the tutorial.
Also there is a full guide on the website, which i think is told you in the journal from the tutorial.
It's just not a finished game. so an complex tutorial ingame didn't make much sense.
Definitely check out the distrobution centres for FPS combat. Those things are huge, and you face off against AI who uses a ton of different tactics.
Ответитьhave the star citizen bug , cant stop thincking about it for 3 weeks , please help
Ответитьhow is it a scam well 800 Millions $ and 12 years of development for a 20 FPS bug fest with a online shop that sells ships from 100 $ to 25000$, Zero character progression , All u do in this game learn how to avoid bugs. So the scam is that this is a tech demo on going for 12 years spending 2x the amount of GTA5 - Baldus Gate 3 - Reddeath redemption and so on. The Scam is that with that money any AAA studio will finish it all ready , but CIG keeps the game update to minim game runs at 20 FPS and has no end in site. If i brain wash you to give me money for nothing back every month is it a scam ?
ОтветитьGive it 10 years, that hype will deflate
Ответитьto learn, look at the guide system
ОтветитьThis is by far the worst aspect of Star Citizen: the first time player experience...
But that is even true for veterans that spend thousands of hours in the game, like me, that fly to Pyro and yes I know the names of the stations... but what if I did not? There is literally nobody in this community that has asked him or herself this very question!
For example, you are new... how do you find a station? The map is not going to help you, the search isn't going to help you and the sheer amount of same colored markers are surely NEVER going to help you either. Then you go to global chat, if that works at all, and ask questions... you get greeted by "PvP"'ers that tell you to go back to Stanton, the same people that kill your vacant ship and then tell you to learn to PvP and get good... a parked ship.
You say this community is more intellectual? I beg to differ, there are some people that have some rationality but the biggest part of our community is just clueless morons that regurgitate information they got from Spektrum or Reddit that is over ten years old and not even relevant anymore. We have people talking about frame rates, lag and latency as if a single number makes all the difference... most of these people don't even understand how you go from frame rate to milliseconds (1/f)!
It is pretty terrible...
I think the best case would be that everything is so intuitive that you don't need to be taught them. Which Star Citizen obviously isn't. Even things that are intuitive may just not work as they should and then player thinks it's not how they work.
Ответитьso just a little insight for this "game" is that is very much in early development and just barely got one of the big unique backend tech (Static Server meshing) into the game, at this stage we are just wrapping up the true backend system and after some clean up on that and getting it to its full functionality (Dynamic Server meshing) before this game will reach true full scale, until then they will still work on these other items like fleshing out current play option and adding ones we have been waiting for, cleaning up ship controls and other bugs, right now fixing most bugs is just kinda silly as those items may just break again because it's being replaced by a more fleshed out system. its that spend extra resources to fix something that while annoying does not prevent you from "playing" (testing) the game or use those resources to finish building out the replacement proper feature that will truly work better for the game in the long run. :) it is a alpha system it will get better but odds are it will probably get worse before it gets better but glad you are enjoying it :) i think its a true marvel and will hopefully push the game industry in a better direction in the long run!!!!
Ответитьcurious what this video will look like after you play 4.0.
ОтветитьHey! I Really loved the review. It's honest and despite the fact I adore the game, its potential and uniqueness.... I have to agree with your rating of 6.5. Its not a game I find myself recommending to friends. In response to your observations regarding flight, I completely, 100% agree and find it rather ugly and immersion breaking watching others fly.
I don't want to take away from your learning, if you're interested though, this stems from the coupled flight model. In coupled, you tell the ship your desired speed and the ship will achieve this at 100% thruster output every time before countering at 100% thruster capacity. This creates the 'jank' despite increasing accessibility to new players. Decoupled actually controls the % of thruster output and is not countered. This does create a much harder flight model, but is vastly more cinematic, and can be more enjoyable depending on preference. If you're keen to keep learning, give decoupled a go! =) Oh, it also can help give more nuance to ships, as you find different ships require variations of controller input to achieve the same desired speed!
Lol bro! Star Citizen is my forever game. I don't care about the bugs, im a white knight for the game and have been since its inception in 2012. Didn't get to play until 3.24 because of having no pc but now that I do I find myself not playing ANYTHING else despite having around 50 games installed on PC. A sandbox where if you can think of it, it can most likely be done, IM ALL IN!!!
So many folks talk crap but they are the dumbest folks ive ever seen because they have a serious lack of knowledge of game development. This game has progressed massively and is revolutionary.
They've went far above and beyond what the game was ever supposed to be
Wait until you get into 4.0 and the server FPS is pegged out at 30fps. The AI finally works as intended, and they are DEADLY.
ОтветитьI understand where you are coming from regarding the iae ship rentals, but as a fairly large spender I disagree. Allowing everyone to try out ships for a couple days just gives players a chance to test something out before investing actual money, or gives them a goal to shoot for if they're trying to buy it in game. When you work hard to save up millions in game and buy a ship just to find out that you hated it it feels pretty horrible. I don't believe it hurts anyone and gives players a little bit of fun to try new things that wouldn't normally be able to. It's a two-day rental out of a 365 day a year. No big deal.
Completely agree with you about not speedrunning your way to the top in the game. I'm a gamer similar to you. I prefer to learn it on my own and then if I really can't figure something out I will look into it. That almost never happens because I'm a firm believer that trial and error is one of the best ways to learn. Also it's more fun to me
Even the tutorial is a relatively new thing they added. 😆 For years they just threw you in the deep end and had you figure it out
ОтветитьMany of the long time backers take a break playing the game when the free fly events happen. Exactly for the reasons you state.
ОтветитьAll you need to make this game infinitely replayable is
2 friends.
That's it.
as a 2020 backer who has been losing interest in the last couple of years, 4.0 & Pyro is absolutely game changing. I really like the direction this game is going.
ОтветитьAfter watching this review I feel like you left out a very important bit of context. This is an alpha build. It is a work in progress. Everything you are explaining has changed and is still subject to much change.
ОтветитьI started playing star citizen a month ago as well and I haven’t put it down since 👍🏽
ОтветитьSc is in a pretty rough spot right now its not a great time to try it.
Maybe if you want some good space gaming right now i would suggest X4 Foundations or Elite Dangerous, maybe no mans sky for more chill expirence.
Cheers
Turn off G-Sync to feel the actual flight model. There are a few training wheels that are defaulted on, like auto slowing you down when getting too close to a station, and gravity assist for each planet or moon. Turn gravity assist back on to take off though.
ОтветитьYou need the community to learn how to play the game, its rought but it become a fun experience.
I do know that they want to focus more on players experience for 4.0 and make the game better.
I do like helping new players the basics, and if they are in trouble, i will help.
Maan, oh man, this is an awesome review mate, you got talent for this, not joking, very well put together video, you covered pretty much all key points about the SC experience, and to sum it up, if you get what this game is, you know a "release date" is irrelevant, it is a fun game, i played the 4.0 preview, somethings got much better there, but it is too buggy with some critical things like calling my ship and it never showing up, which made me go back to 3.24, which i can play for 6h with only minor bugs or problems that can be solved even without a logout, so i'm waiting a bit before jumping, if they can put 4.0 at this level of consistency, and they will, then i'll have no problem playing it.
-Now if this helps, in the holidays letter from Chris Roberts, he states that the focus of the team this year will be on stability and how playable the game is, the dev team is on the holidays break, so things will stay broken in the 4.0 preview for a while, but, there is a team still on the watch at CIG, attacking some more critical stuff.
-Now on NPC enemy Ai, their behavior depends on server quality, so if the server is degraded, the Ai will pretty much not react to you in time for a quality fight, they can take like 10 secs to start reacting to you, or not even react at all, on the other hand, in 4.0 NPC reactions are much better, almost instant, even enemy ships fight much better too, it was beautiful to see, it is a direct benefit of the new Server Meshing tech there.
-For performance, i'm not sure how much this would help, but having a second SSD that is not the one where your Windows is installed, can reduce the overall lock ups in places where performance is worse, SSDs even M.2s are not very good at multitasking, their speed tanks a lot when multiple programs are messing with things in the same unit, so having a dedicated SSD drive is better in general, not only for SC, so if you're not doing it already, this may make your experience "less bad" hehehe.
-On reworks, it's true that many things have been reworked along the way, but many system have a desired final state where they are aiming for, mining being one that is at a near final state, although they will introduce new mechanics for larger mining vessels, like the incredible RSI Orion. Now flight is one where they are having difficulties still, but they will eventually get to a good point.
You did a great job with this review man, and taking that i watched your Squadron 42 reaction video, where you told you used to be a hater, and now became a SC player, that is super cool mate, the potential here is not only a distant imagination, it is tangible, and that is why this game still gets a lot of investing from fans :)
I think they should incorporate an academy system. Where instead of you doing trial contracts for cargo hauling, salvaging or bounty hunting, players have to go to a main city and spend like 2k credits on A license for that specific career path. That license should essentially just be like a quick 15 to 30 minute tutorial for that specific part of the game to teach players mechanics without ruining it by making them look up guides online. Also, you're not told but you can use your journal for things like cargo hauling, to find prices of goods and the best places to sell them, but that might all be changing with the new eco update. P.S. Unless you've done an oil rig mission, you haven't seen FPS at its finest lol
Ответитьyea, i remember that vid when you went to the event. I was kinda like Wow Dude slow down with spending your money on rentals... lol
Ответить30009 error. no way in. every xmas the same ever since. screw this. best way to play sc is to play another game.
ОтветитьI think You're understanding gaming very well.
ОтветитьGood review Bro'! I can identify with a lot of good points you made about playing style and it variety of game loops. Especially about playing solo instead of in a group which is not really my thing. I just make sure i have the proper tools to get the job done.
Anyway, instead of 'down talking' the game which in essence is justifiable due to all those crazy bugs you still keep a positive note to your review and i can truly appreciate it!
I think it's this mixture of high dopamine and low dopamine activities that makes me unable to put it down.
Ответить1.0 will be the last time core functionality will be changed. After that it will only be features being added or refined.
ОтветитьThat is where the Guide system comes in bacause tutorials change and break too much.
There is a button to connect to Guides who help with specific systems that you can use. During the frequent changing and adding of things it takes away too much time and resources to keep fixing.
Oh it’s fair they need a crew to run those big ships 😂
ОтветитьWell tutorial for a game that keeps changing things because it is not done is a hard to keep up. You end up building tutorial as much as building the game. Remember you are a play tester before you are a player.
ОтветитьLet me some up star citizen for you. It’s like kneeling in front of the toilet bowl and consistently smashing your tip between the bowl and the toilet seat over and over again until you become so numb you have no idea what’s going on anymore.
ОтветитьThe game is still in a;pha so the game tutorials are not done yet
Ответитьsome times the bugs can be part of the challenge lol
eg ; cant retrive your ship , just ask for a lift in global chat and meet them on the pads , quite often a bug is localised and retriving from another station works
you can buy any big ship without spending money including the 890 thats why its not locked so you know you can grind for it
Ответитьthe point of free rentals for big ships is grind goals not sales you can grind for those ships and the more you play the more you buy it's not about the big sale its about keeping you playing and making small upgrades of 10-30 dollars a month.
Ответить
