I'm a first year English student and this helped me to understand connected speech more since our books are full of lengthy descriptions and words I don't understand even after translating them to my mother tongue 😭

i saw next year as reciprocal assimilation because there is the t and j sound and a sh like sound is produced

Ma'am, I've a doubt in the exercise..
Can assimilation also happen in 'next year'?
Since we learned when /t/ is followed by /j/ sound it becomes /tʃ/
