Nice camera and good value for price drop.

It blows my mind that this camera is now practically the same price as the pocket 4k when you factor in the cost of an external monitor for the latter, which is a must for that camera, imo.

I have a BMPCC 6k & 6k pro. I just sold the 6k and bought two of these.

Because it is not selling. They are desprate.

Why..sales suck, no one wants a crippled camera with all the PRO features removed, and the upcoming PYXIS is not that much more than this camera regular price. And once it's released, no one is buying this camera....and they'll probably release the PRO version of this exact model next month

I would return it too after seeing just how bad the noise is in low light…. Worst full frame camera I’ve ever worked with by far. I lived the 4k and had less noise out of it then I did with this one

I have a friend who works in a certain light company and says that the reason black magic is so unhinged with there camera sales and Davinci resolve studio. Is because the cameras is not there major source of profit. Its there broadcasting hardware.

never loved this form factor and even struggle to want to buy this with the price drop. A box design for cinematography purposes just makes more sense, to me at least.

Lol, I just sold mine. Luckily before the price drop, got a decent price for it. I got tired of defending this camera, it was like having a stupidly hot, but batshit crazy girlfriend. The result was something beautiful, but with a TON of problems.

Definitely was a weak sauce release. They should have put more effort into Pyxis and given it a screen on the back and I'd be sold so easily. Sticking with 6k G2 for now :)

Good niche cameras. I suppose if I was shooting a short film with no handheld in good light I might use one. But the other 99% of the time I'm more inclined to grab one of my Sony's.

yesterday i tried pyxis at cabsat convention in dubai, pyxis has crazy amount of rolling shutter i don think its usable in real world, i havent use this camera too but rolling shutter 2024 is meh.

People said they wanted Box camera (my self included)
But people didnt specify details..

People wanted a RED komodo, but for half the Price.. 🤣 they just didnt say that..

- They wanted a box camera from Canon like the RED komodo, but with canons autofokus and Grey ND build in.. and the Canon sensors..

- They wanted the Black magic box kamera that was cheap, had BRAW and the awesome menu, with the usb recording to a harddrive

- they wanted the box camera from Panasonic with fast framerates, opengate and video centric stuff and the worlds best Ibis like back when they made the GH5, but full frame and in a box

People want to rig it up, but they dont want to rig it up at the same time 🤣 like with the C70 where people want V-Mount batteries and everything.. and thats all good, but its a Netflix camera that is ment to work right out of the box (no pun intended)

With the S5IIx on one end the Pyxsis on the other end this camera has no place and I agree that Blackmagic will discontinue this camera.
Make an S52 type camera with great Ibis and AF but with the advantage of BM great menu system and BRAW.

Mine arrived today and I immediately returned for a replacement due to insane horizontal noise / banding straight out of the box! Has anyone else had this? Is it quality control? I've used 6k and 6k pro and never noticed it like on this cam, maybe a bad batch. Please let me know

I just ordered mine this morning 😎 With this kind of discount, ya can't beat it. I agree with you that Blackmagic was probably having a stock issue and wants to offload as many of these cameras before the Pyxis releases. I have absolutely zero interest in the Pyxis due to the placement of the screen, it really feels like a 2 person camera not a solo operator sort of thing. But I already own two box style cameras, so this "chunky" mirrorless form factor, with the great tilting screen, internal BRaw and only a few additional accessories like the EVF and battery grip give me a nice, simple, not complex cinema setup when I wanna go lighter and don't want to deal with bigger rigs but still want great recording capabilities and internal raw.

Personally I believe the s5ii is a better option. You can buy that used for less than this, with autofocus, Great stab, ETC

I bought mine just 3 weeks ago, and yeah this price drop stings. Doesn't matter though, still got a great camera. As for the proce drop, after speaking to the seller I bought mine from, we think the reasons why are simply the arrival of the Pyxis, and the fact that there wasn't really much demand for the 6KFF. The 6K Pro, which has been on the market for 3 years now, hasn't seen a price cut since its release, yet the 6KFF has after only coming out less than a year ago.

I bet they will come out with a more affordable version of the Ursa also featuring global shutter

The problem I am having with buying this cam is that everything fells half baked with this cam, if only it would have 50 fps in proper 16:9 i would buy it but BM deciding to limit it at 48fps makes it kinda shit for europe since we have 50 Hz meaning 48 fps will flicker in artificial light. Even though I am tempted because of the FF I will pass and keep working with the OG 6k until they either up the fps to 50 via firmware or provide a better camera with proper specs later on.

The Pocket FF is DISCONTINUED! Why is this difficult for all you twerps to understand? BM stated — quite clearly — that the new price is in effect "while stock lasts." They will not be making more of them. They retooled their production line to crank out the Pyxis. They want clean sales of those starting next month. (Having the Pocket FF also available for $400 lower would have messed things up.) This way BM will get a tax write off.

Do you want to know why ? Black Magic Design is now pivoting to become the new RED Digital Cinema, now that RED has been purchased by Nikon Camera of Japan. BMD is selling off it's old excess stock of affordable cameras. This will be THE LAST TIME BMD WILL MANUFACTURE AN AFFORDABLE CAMERA ! Look for all future cameras to start @ $15,999.00 USD and go to $40, 000.00 USD from now on ! Also, look to see the free version of Davinci Resolve to disappear !!
