I've read about it and I think Google still a bit behind to Huawei when it comes to night time photo. Not that good yet. It will be better to wait Pixel 4.

Night sight is just amazing no matter who says what ! I puts my Sony A6000 to shame, with the F1.8 35mm Sony lens or 50mm lens, there is no match. I hope Google refines it with a sofwate upgrade....thanks for a great review

Google realizes that hardware will always have limitations, so they put the importance on software, because software can evolve, change, update, etc. and is arguably the more important aspect of this subject matter... and THEN they can roll in new evolutionary steps of hardware when they come out for future iterations (imo anyways)

Adam, at the beginning of his video, admits that night sight is a great thing. And that overarching attitude is carried throughout the entirety of his video. But with a negative twist. What Adam wants is what I also want, "A better version of a dark photo.". And there is a valid point to saying that I don't want to lose too much detail from a shot just to brighten up and overexpose the frame at the expense of having too noisy of a shot. There is a point to taking a photo using Night Sight and it turns out like it wasn't taken at night at all, as Adam rightly tells us. So, subject composition by the photographer is key here. But, no harm, no foul. If you don't like the shot at the end of the day, just delete it.

If what Night Sight is doing isn't able to be done just by increasing the exposure and time of the shot, then yes, Night Sight is special in that it can do something that the camera (and the person) alone can't do. Because, if Google can "manipulate" the pixels behind the scenes (in the cloud) to create something that isn't obtainable by merely pointing and shooting; that is warranted as special to me. It can and will get better because it is a selling point on a phone that you might buy. And that is reason alone to make the tech behind it better. It is special and you both bring strong points to the table.

It does look better than in the other phones, even if it doesn't look "natural".

When is the next star trek generation movie Data?
Aside from that, Night sight is absolute pants. It might make things bright, but the quality is absolutely laughable, compared to Night mode on the Mate 20 Pro, the Mate kills it stone dead in my side by side testing. I choked on my coffee when I compared the first few night photos haha.

I just got Night Sight on my phone. I found out when I went to take a picture of my outdoor Christmas decorations. I got a little popup saying try Night Sight. It took really good pictures. I am really impressed.

I must say Gcam 6.1 does wonders on my 180 USD Xiaomi Note 5 pro. Incredible work by Google Camera Software Team.

My mate 20 Pro takes much better photos than shown here at night. Must have been the normal mate 20.

It's fantastic, I have it on my device and you won't believe some of the great night pics I got at a recent Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Killed everyone else's who took pics.

I've used night sight on my Pixel 1 since it was a rogue APK, and was in absolute awe of it then. Later, Google brought it out as a supported upgrade to my couple years old phone, and I'm even more in awe. I have taken photos in borderline darkness that have turned out stunning. I have a friend who is a devout Apple fanboy, and he has conceded what the Pixel can do in low light blows out of the water what his phone can do (his is a year newer too!)! The implementation is a bit cumbersome I will concede, but that is spit and polish, not a concession on the amazing technology at work in the phone.

After watching various PC World content where Adam opens his mouth, whatever comes out is most often wrong.

This is no exception.

ok, once again, you take a very high perspective. thats fine, if you really just care for a bright picture to make things visible you wouldn't see otherwise.

let me make a comparison:
- Adam: the nutritional value of this muffin is very low, it will feed you for a time, but its not unique, new or special. also, there are some hard chunks in it you won't like.
- You: i'm hungry...i only care for something to eat...this muffin is the best right now! hard chunks, nutritional value? listen...i'm hungry...

both views have their merrit, but as a nerd i do like to go into detail more. everything tastes good if you are starved, but thats usually not the metric we use to determine good food.

Fire him. He's dead wrong 100% !! I was asking him if he use the DSLR camera + tripod and take a long exposure photo. Will it look natural? Natural here means darkness and cannot see lolz at his logic

I prepare the photo that makes the night time looks like a real night time than the photo that makes the night time looks like a dusk/dawn time. I still agree with Adam.

From the pictures, articles and videos I've seen in comparisons, I tend to agree with you that Google's implementation of Night Sight mode is the best, and it should be because the lead technology expert on the whole night sight technology (Marc Levoy) works at Google and is in charge of perfecting the technology. This means Google's implementation of night sight mode will only keep getting better and better.

Well glad you mentioned it.

That adam guy does camera comparison in a very wrong way. He takes dynamic range, exposure, color accuracy and details all one by one differently and not all in a single account. I mean to judge a particular photo you need to check all the aspects mentioned above 'simultaneously' in a photo and then determine the best photo. Dynamic range, color accuracy and exposure are 'more' important than details when taking a photo with smartphone because you want a ready made picture. They must be given more importance afterall most consumers view photo on a phone and not pixel peep so much. If you want to give details more weightage then go for a dslr (where you need to manually set the exposure,color,etc.).

It's not exactly the best.If you think about in terms of Night "Sight", ok, it's the best, but for Night "Photography" maybe isn't the best. We have to make this distinction, this isn't a Night Mode.
