Sorry but this story is stupid as fuck, the story is poorly written (like he forgot what he wrote the day before and just continued the next day while piss drunk), and the game is awfully constructed and is total horse shit. Even my dad who used to count cards in Scotland laughed at this shit like “who the fuck wrote this?”

Nah fuck that. If the point was to make a game practically impossible to win, the writer succeeded. I'll stick to 11 miles.

But what about the jokers? What horrible thing do they do to merit keeping them from the deck?

When I was in HS I joined the Science Olympiad team and i was the not only the newest member, but also the only girl on the team. While we were waiting after the competitions but before the medal ceremony and the tradition was to play poker to decide who got to carry in out team bragging rights 😁They thought I'd be uncomfortable or a newbie. HAHAHA My cousin me how to play blackjack, and a few types of poker. By the time they realized I was a ringer, it was too late and got to be the flag for the event, but we had a deer shull..... this is me trying to write after taking my night

Already the writer fails to understand historical interactions with spirits.

Protip: Many cultures and religions agree to make spirits/ghosts more reasonable and maybe helpful, make sure to have booze and good food ready for them.

I mean, if you get the Queen of Spades, that seems like the one Queen you should hold onto. Assuming that it's a standard 50 card deck, sans Jokers obviously, (hence 50 cards as opposed to 52)

Good little ritual story. You can really tell the author put time and research into this story. The rules were well fleshed out and the into contained a lot of detail about the sport of cards. I enjoyed it but it wasn't without flaws. Realistically the game is pretty stacked against you so most people, unless desperate, wouldn't play the game. The game also had a pretty cliche ending. This knocks it down a little but still a good story with good flow and story telling.
