Thanks so much for the video Jared! Have you had the chance to look into the Samyang 24-70mm f2.8 yet? It would be incredible to see your review of that lens since some reviewers say it's better than the Sigma Art, almost on par with the first gen Sony GM glass.

I really enjoy your approach to these reviews. "does it do the job" is so much more effective than counting bokeh blades or looking at contrast and grain at 1000% mag. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) photography lives primarily on social media which will be destructively downsizing images anyways. Does it get the job done? cool. send it.

I paid like $240 more and got the Art lens, just for the better build quality and that 24mm at-hand range. The only annoying thing about the 24-70 is the lens hood. That rubbery-thingy on the bottom of it gets smudged and looks pathetic.

Jared, thank you for this review! May I ask why you use a Lightroom instead of Capture One? I've noticed such a great difference in colours between these two! Especially in greens! This difference is visible just at RAWs from Sony cameras, I guess. But it is huge!

24-70 was way too heavy and big. 28-70 it is.

I would go with Sigma 24-70 but the reverse zoom, dust issue and size & weight of it really prevents me from buying it but at the same time, it would be nice to have that extra 4mm on the wide end.

I think Tamron 28-75mm G2 lens is much better if you don't care about the extra 4mm on the wide end.

How does the auto focus on the Sigma 24-70 compare to the new G2 version of the Tamron 28-75 for sports and live events?

Just sold my Tamron 28-75 f2.8 after 2yrs for the Sigma "bigger brother" 24-70 f2.8 that 28 just got really on my nerve even tho I own the Tamron 17-28 f2.8 too, but if I really just wanna carry 1 lens I need that 24mm! also JARED what do you think of the 14-24 Sigma lens? is it worth the upgrade from the Tamron 17-28???

Just got the Tamron 28-75 in the mail yesterday...but am happy with the few tests I shot with it. Glad to know Tamron is a company with investing in (Sony lenses are expensive, and I didn't know this existed until now haha).

Dude. I opted for the Sigma Art and have gotten incredible results from it. In static situations. In sports photography, the zoom’s reverse twist from my GM’s lenses was a real problem for me. It’s a bit of a learning curve to zoom correctly. Since i shoot HS sports, I think if i had it to do over, I’d go with the GM. No YT reviewer addressed the reverse zoom of the Sigma vs GM phenomenon. No! I regret getting my Sigma 24-70 now. I loved it at first but because of the weight, I had to upgrade to a heavier duty gimbal which in turn made the whole setup heavier. And I'm a small guy. I wish I would have waited for this one

i just bought the 24-70 art and just did a shoot of a live band, watching this while i import my photos

The environment must be dark shooting at iso 1000

you need to change your test….. smell test and blow test are outdated….. go with taste test and hairbrush test

why ? cause we don't see it but we feel it ... fix your lines.
