The transfer case has 3 modes 2wd, awd, and off road. What does the transfer case do in off road mode? When you go from awd to off road what does it do to make it work better off road? How does the off road mode work?

Hey guys, do you think the terrain AT4 would be viable for mild off roading if it had a 1 to 1.5 inch lift and whether or not that would be feasible with this type of vehicle?

Had a 2020 Terrain Denali, great car and a solid light off roader. Mine had the bigger 2.0 motor that gave tons of power for the small SUV. Sad they don't offer that motor anymore.

GM didn’t do it again. This and the trailblazer could have been something in the midsized suv market. I’m Outback is way better that these.

I think it's a pretty decent vehicle. I'm considering getting one in the coming year. I have no plans on doing any off roading, but for a guy like me who goes out camping a lot, hitting the beach and plans on getting a big dog very soon, I think this GMC would fit my lifestyle. Great video lads.

Not even tow hooks. This is going to dupe the average consumer that trusts that at4 means something. For the price of this GMC tub you can get a jeep 4 door 4x4 Wrangler Willy's.

1.5 L and turbo not justified its underpowered in highways for sure weight of suv 3419 lb sLt model 18inch ground clearance it’s too low I drive this suv 23 days as retail before buy but change my mind it’s not my cup of tea

It's my understanding that HUD doesn't work on plain old glass. The windshield has to have a certain layer or coating on it for a HUD to work. As such it's likely cheaper (and more available) for GM to use the pop up HUD.

We have a 2015 equinox AWD and I can't say enough about it. For the wife it's perfect. I hated this thing for so long but grew to love it. Took it from Minnesota to Florida and the lie meter said I got 34 mpg through Illinois🤷‍♂️

No it's not a real 4x4 it's only used for traction as a luxury car.

i had just noticed that GM dropped the 2.0 turbo engine option from the Equinox/Terrain lineup and only offers the 1.5 with a 6 speed in the Equinox and a 1.5 with a 9 speed in the Terrain regardless of trim level, there used to be a diesel option as well, but never sold well

GMC advertises the ground clearance on the AT4 as 7.9”. Those tires loaded up pretty quickly in the mud. I have a 2020 Terrain SLT with the 2.0 litre turbo and its got 252 horsepower and has very decent acceleration and reasonably good fuel economy (7.7 L/100kms) which I think is good. I don’t take mine anywhere close to off road. Generally speaking, I like my car.

Surprising how few GMC Terrains I see around town. The AT4 trim package may be just the magic to make the Terrain visible to buyers. Nice "soft-road" trail review, TK!

The pop up hud is because its cheaper. It has nothing to do with the windshield. It takes a higher quality projector to put it on the glass.

I liked the look of the first generation Terrain more than this one. I think this vehicle just looks boring and has no features that stand out, not to mention a tiny engine. They call it the Terrain but it's probably best on asphalt. Too many manufacturers adding "off road" badges and trims but not really any off road upgrades.

I kind of like the look of it, and the AWD system seemed fairly competent. That said, though, I just can't see why one would buy one of these over RAV4 for pretty much the same money. Maybe 5 years down the line in the used market with one of these is dirt cheap, but definitely not new. And I typically like GMC vehicles too, but just not their smaller offerings.
