I do not think that the chief is actually in love with an ai. It's just the only thing that he can communicate with like a human. Giving him back some of his humanity.

Somehow in the moments of tension and drama I can almost feel his emotions through that helmet, even tho there's not even a tiny bit of his face that we can see, I can almost see the expression that he's making when talking to Cortana or when she talks to him. Master Chief character may be somewhat blunt and boring at times, but he's still fascinating.

humans perceive and express love as a physical and emotional relationship but cortana and chief are far from human. they dont see things as physical but more as psychological and a need and dependence on each other to find their true meaning. i only figured this out years after following the lore but its a great way to show true companionship or love between two creations

The size scaling of halo baffles me……during the early games chief hardly looks bigger than all the other marines, I’d say around 6’6, but during the later games he actually dwarfs them, around 7’2

Spartan 117 is basically unstoppable and inert sexually. He's actually killable and they are not about to forget how much they're going to miss and rely on each other. He was the one to keep it.

He's actually finding things he never knew. Cortana wasn't his anything but a whimper of his humanity. She was and always will be his everything. She's good but not that good Because he's good ENOUGH 😜. Cortana is the teacher whilst the student loans out the means to bring the pain. Chief cares about Cortana like he cares about anything an asset. She is a good fighting intelligent asset. You can see how she feels and does beyond smart enough AI to bond completely.
