If i were there i would be a hermit in the mountains or the jungle with a hidden base, i know the Minecraft community, and trusting them would be the last thing to do. If i would ever get discovered by players, even if non-hostile ones, i would just grab my stuff and high tail it out of there. After the Node, i would just build an underwater base and just live there.
