Would be cool to see a comparison between these and the ones made by Simalube. They seem nearly identical (the gas producing dry celled ones anyway).
ОтветитьNice. Have you tried dismantling simalube lubricators yet. They must be similar to SKF, I guess?
ОтветитьThese units could be useful for boat owners for keeping the prop shaft glands full of grease.
ОтветитьCareful Clive, delicate ears might be listening. Americans, I think because of their puritanical history & an exceedingly high incidence of theism can't say or hear "nipple" lest they erupt into the instantaneous release of 245 years of sexual repression.
They call them "Grease Zerks"! 😆 (I kid you not!)
That must be a 5000% mark up
ОтветитьKiloohms per month is a unit I did not ever expect to come across.
ОтветитьI still can't tell if this is for machinery or Fleshlight.
ОтветитьHad a few if these at a factory I used to work at. Drove me nuts trying to figure out how it worked. Never could get ahold of an old one to take apart and was always told they worked by "magic". Finally I understand how that pesky skf automatic greaser works...thanks clive!
ОтветитьI need this for my PENIS PUMP!!!! Ty for the diagram!!!!
Ответить😂 bad thought came to my mind after reading lubricant 😂
ОтветитьI naively thought you put penls in there
ОтветитьAs a service tech I have been in the SKF manufacturing facilities in Elgin IL. If you are looking for a bearing, they would be your first stop unlike other countries producing the same wink wink. I went through 3 bearings in my Ford Focus before I decided the forth was going to come from a good source. Has not failed since. This is their lubricator side but probably better known as the worlds largest bearing producer. Would never have thought those two little batteries could create that much pressure even in a sealed environment. I guess it is the little things that surprise you the most at times.
Ответитьgrease nipple.....hee hee...
ОтветитьWhat happened to your hand? Looks like prong burns.
ОтветитьI already have an automatic lubricating device.
Only issue is the nag Once you get used to that, it's do-able.
awesome video. I used to maintenance aircraft hangers, these would have been sweet
ОтветитьAm I the only person that gets nervous when Clive talks about automatic lubrcation? 😅
ОтветитьThis is simply genius
ОтветитьMy mom gave me a grease gun for my 16th birthday!
52 years ago ha ha ha
The first place my brain went wasn't machinery. I'm slightly disappointed although this makes a lot more sense.
ОтветитьAmazing design.
ОтветитьNot an expert but a grease gun has a lot of pressure and gets the grease in all the cracks and crevasses, those don't look like they would. I also feel like the regular greasing is when you're gonna notice possible issues so if it's automatic you're gonna miss those and maybe have bigger problems down the line.
ОтветитьBig clive is famous on Wikipedia.
Pressure generation
When a load is applied over zinc-air batteries without access to oxygen, they generate hydrogen gas at a fairly controllable rate, proportional to the load. This can build up pressure, which is used in certain applications to expel another liquid over a longer period, like automatic lubricators[30] or air fresheners.[31]
About a decade ago my engineering colleagues and I designed a prototype device for use with our products, using one of these H2 gas generating Varta cells. Combined in a small package with a similar-sized cell to power the tiny timer PCB it would be programmable to fire after a period of many months or a year by applying a dead short to the H2 cell which pushed out a piston sealed with an O-ring. Although it worked in the office, the issue we found is that the gas production rate is poor at under freezing temps and that made it unsuitable for our application. I'm pretty sure we removed the blue sticker before installing it but that may not be required.
ОтветитьI still don't get how a sticker can change the voltage from 1,3V to 0,4V. Anyone can explain?
Ответить🤣 I am so lazy. Never grease anything and wonder why it fails.
ОтветитьGrease Nipples. New band name. I called it.
ОтветитьTo small
ОтветитьGloves plz
ОтветитьVery interesting.
ОтветитьBOLTR
ОтветитьSome dude had to calculate the volume of gas produced its compression characteristics, design a tube and plunger with load (grease) with the correct resistance the gas would have to overcome over a specific period of time.
Someone was showing off designing this thing.
Better than energizer and duracell leaking in expensive multimeters....
ОтветитьIn the US we call the grease fitting a zerk fitting. That’s what my old boss said and he has been in NASCAR cup since the late 70s.
ОтветитьPut it in a condom or something for a bladder, you won't get foam.
ОтветитьWhat happened to you left hand, brother?
ОтветитьVery cleverly thought up.
ОтветитьI remember buying a grease gun in the mid 1970's which made a big deal of saying it could exceed 8,000psi. It was handy for greasing swing arm pivots on motorcycles that hadn't been serviced for years.
ОтветитьBut is is sooooo sloooowww. Can foreplay really last that long? ;)
ОтветитьWe use a low tech device for giving intravenous antibiotics. It uses a standard size syringe in a spring loaded device. The infusion rate is determined by a restriction in the tubing that connects to the iv in your arm. It can push 30 mls in anything from 15 minutes to 1 week, depending on the tube used.
Springfusor.
Quoting from a comment on an AVE video on this from a man named E:
"It's not often PhDs in inorganic chemistry have a chance to shine, but I'll take what I can get.
Here is what is happening:
Under normal conditions, there are 3 reactions:
Zn+4OH- > Zn(OH)4^2-, + 2e- (Anode)
Zn(OH)4^2- > ZnO +H2O +2OH- (electrolyte)
1/2 O2 + H2O +2 e- > 2OH- (Cathode)
Total - 2 Zn + O2 > 2ZnO
There is always a parasitic reaction pathway which generates hydrogen gas (see below). In order to minimize this, they use construction methods and additives such as mercury amalgam. The parasitic reaction is below:
Zn+4OH- > Zn(OH)4^2 + 2e (as above at anode)
2H2O +2e- - H2 +2OH- (side reaction)
Total = Zn +2H2O > Zn(OH)2 + H2 (hydrogen generating reaction)
Under normal operation, oxygen is present, allowing the top cathode reaction to proceed, where the overall reaction involves the oxidation of Zinc by oxygen to produce Zinc Oxide. Without oxygen, the reaction will proceed without the Cathode reaction, resulting in the oxidation of Zinc by water (under basic conditions), producing Hydrogen gas and Zinc(+2) hydroxide. These are competing pathways, removing the oxygen forces the Zn to prefer the parasitic reaction that generates hydrogen gas.
The source of the hydrogen gas is the half cell of the oxidation of zinc, and reduction of water to produce hydrogen. This explains why no oxygen is being generated."
Giddady
ОтветитьSo simple and efficient. Awesome indeed!
ОтветитьFrom complete ignorance to utter fascination in under 15 minutes.
Ответитьhuh, i literally live 500m away from the SKF factory in Gothenburg, nice to see such a clever and simple product.
ОтветитьTime to get one of these for my cars ball joints
ОтветитьWhat is the story behind those two gashes on his left hand?
ОтветитьI've seen these in a nightclub before!
Ответитьare you ok? your hands appear shaky.
Ответить
