what a great video will this work with down lights as ?
Ответитьbrilliant video, explanation, visuals 👌
ОтветитьHow do you take feed to next room please?
ОтветитьWhy do i have 2 red wires in my light switch coming from one cable, aswell as a blue and brown wire coming from another cable , i have spot lights, and a ceiling light what needs to connect to what
ОтветитьHi I'm doing my am2e next week. When I was originally at college you didn't have to double over. Do you have to do it now as I thought it came and went.
ОтветитьI would like to add. Electricians should leave slack with wiring instead of making everything short even a switch cannot be replaced without having to "lengthen"
ОтветитьInstead of saying CPCs can you just call them Earth. Instead of saying Conductor say Wires or do we have to be politically correct?
ОтветитьGreat video, thanks for taking the time to create and share. Used this technique to wire in the lights for my garden cabin.
ОтветитьKeeping the line conductor at the lighting point is the best approach. For example if you needed an unswitched line for an bathroom fan or a smoke, heat or CO2 detector for it's much easier to tap off from the lighting point in ceiling than the switch don't you think !
There would be a tussle with the wires in the two plate method when fitting a dimmer switch in fact a deeper box is required.
This wiring technique isn't for me.
👍🏿
Vargo? Wago mate
Ответитьfantastic loved it
ОтветитьCan I ask why is the blue cables in the wago?
Ответитьgood vid but you have moved all live wires from ceiling rose wiring to the switch HOW IS THIS SAFER a fault on the rose no problem a fault on the switch death
ОтветитьEvery good spark takes the feed to the switch! 3 plate at the light is fu**ing garbage!!
ОтветитьFancy a free holiday in France ??? (Bring your toolbox )!!!
Ответитьto add another benefit to this, this is future proof as many smart switches require both L&N to work so having this at the switch is handy and future proof :)
ОтветитьSay you wired, a light and switch via this method, x 2. To then connect to the consumer unit, would there be anything "wrong" with taking the power connectors for each light, connecting them using a 3 way wago, thus only one live, neutral and ground needs to be connected to the consumer unit, - or is there anything wrong with wiring both feeds to the consumer board ? (question is only theory, not intending on doing anything electrical.) Just here to learn!
ОтветитьUsing a knife to strip that cable is like using a fork to eat soup!
ОтветитьVery odd versus what we use in north america
ОтветитьHi i have wired my garage LED strip lights x4 by using 2 plate method, but switching is ok, but when switching off the RCD trips, can point me as to where the fault is , these lights have been working for four years. Thank you
Tony
Why on earth are you using a knife to strip insulation !!
End strippers are the correct tools to use and much faster.
I have been using them for 50 years...Correctly set they do not even nick the copper as a knife will.
Hi love your video .can I ask a question when you trimmed back the wire to go in to the light switch. Roughly how much is needed to be trimmed back .best wishes james
ОтветитьHow would I add a new light with its own switch ? Would I take a twin and earth from the old switch to the new switch then a switch line to the new light? Any help is appreciated
ОтветитьWhy is it called 2 plate and 3 plate
Ответить70mm rule is useful, never know how much surplus to leave.
ОтветитьI feel good! Pro proving I'm correct to do what I do. I've had to redo sloppy work by most registered professional electricians I've ever used so I worked out how to do it this way - long wires in box, fold over, keep wires as clean as possible, sleeving the correct size for wires, Wago connectors And I scrape out every trace of plaster or paint.
I think I've found a solid, diligent domestic electrician for my next job - new up to the minute consumer units with separate circuits for each kitchen appliance.
What a great teacher. Fantastic video! Thank you. I will be watching your others before I wire up my new shed.
ОтветитьWhy "plate"? Serious question
Also 601 JB 6 terminals, fair enough BUT 301 has 4 terminals and a 401 has 3...discuss
Thank you mate much appreciate should be able to keep my job now haha 😂 ⚡️
ОтветитьExcellent👍
ОтветитьSpot on in every way, just so easy to understand ! Many thanks & keep up the good work.
ОтветитьAbsolutely fantastic.
thank you.
This is just beautiful to watch. Have been close to burn out with work for the last months and now my job ended and I can focus on my apartment, replacing lightswitches, adding new lights and sockets and to watch/listen to you, is super calming as too, informative. Thank you very much for your efforts!
ОтветитьFantastic Video , helps a lot on my course . Thank you
ОтветитьI was wondering where you got that cut on your thumb... and then I saw you using the knife xD
ОтветитьVery well explained thanks, a big help.
Ответитьdefinetly intereting watch. been looking at reskilling into a trade as been stuck in unskilled roles for a while. just need to find an apprenticeship somewhere.
ОтветитьVery informative-just stop saying like bloody so!!!!!😇
ОтветитьWould be easier to sleeve the earth in one piece of cover.
ОтветитьMany thanks for the video. Do you guys offer any in class room or online course? If you don't, would you please refer some academy? Cheers.
ОтветитьSo can I use this to add a pir onto a dimmer switch? Linking the line as the pir needs it, then coming back from the pir with the switched cable?
ОтветитьThanku
ОтветитьHow do you take perm live to the next room. ? Another cable in the switch ?
ОтветитьCan anyone explain how to add two way switching using this method ? Thanks in advance.
ОтветитьBrilliant well explained and easy to do I want to do this in all my bedrooms to make them safe as I have an old house with old wining thanks buddy well done cheers
ОтветитьIf you were to use this method for a 2-gang switch, would you bridge the line-in to the second switch.
I have one ceiling rose light and LEDs, I brought the line-in down to the switch and wondered how I would add the live line in to the second (LEDs) switch in the gang. Thanks
Yet they tell you never to double them over or twist tie them! Just stick them straight in as is.
ОтветитьGoing to utilise the redundant central heating thermostat cable to make a new lamp and switch in the broom cupboard. Whoever cut off the thermostat wiring, left it live!!
ОтветитьWow.
