Do you take metformin for PCOS?
ОтветитьI also intermittent fasting and OMAD with whole foods helps with insulin resistance
ОтветитьThank you dr osaba on you i got rid of my PCOS after using your herbal medicine
ОтветитьI have stomach pain
ОтветитьYou explained PCOS like I describe it to my Dr. and they act like I am a fool mixing one problem with another. Metformin helps me loose weight with pcos (quicker than berberine) but I notice major hair loss along with it.
PCOs has taken my beauty, my hair and my happy self too.
I have horrible hot flashes with metformin. Anyone experienced the same?
ОтветитьMy hemoglobin typically runs from 11.5-11.7 however it was magically 12.4 on non-fasting labs in April, then in fasting labs this week it was 11.7 which was the second week taking metformin. So it could be that it gave me anemia back lol. I definitely get leg cramps but I try to drink one small Gatorade daily and 64oz of water. I’m also on high fiber and protein diet.
First week - diarrhea, fatigue, dryness (feeling water went straight to my kidneys and nowhere else lol) dry skin and feeling thirsty All the time and also having to pee more (duh)
2nd week - dryness, low sex drive, diarrhea, fatigue
3rd week - nausea, constipation, severe bloating, sex drive improved, fatigue, early period cramps and symptoms (my cycle is 38-40 days rain or shine), dryness, calf cramps
This gives me hope. Back in 2014 I inquired about having PCOS with my PCP. I had an ultrasound and did bloodwork, and the gyno I was referred to told me the reason I seldom get my period is because I am overweight, and testosterone is stores in the fat when you're born female so because of high testosterone I was not getting it as frequently. Which surprised me to hear because I knew heavier people that did not have irregular periods. Then I had another US in 2016, then another in 2021 after I felt the worst pain in my life. I was at work (thankfully in a hospital) and went to ER because the pain was instant and crippling. I had an US, but was never called any of those times by my PCP about results. I was told if I didn't hear anything, everything is okay. Fast forward to a few weeks ago I called my doctor because after a year of having a regular period, it stopped for 3 months. He told me based on my 4 previous US's, I had PCOS! I was never told at all. I was so frustrated, I could have done something about it but I didn't know what. I got another Ultrasound and more bloodwork.
After hearing about Ozempic being an amazing weight loss drug, I have been thinking about it. I struggle to lose weight no matter what I do or what I eat. However its super expensive and I can hardly afford it. I process a lot of requisitions at work for CT scans and something I see daily with patients is if someone needs contrast dye and they have any of these three: renal disease, diabetes or on metformin, they have to get bloodwork done to check for their Creatinine and eGFR (estimated glomerular filtration rate).
it got me thinking - hold on a minute. Ozempic is a diabetes drug.... but so is Metformin. I did some digging, and eventually found your video. Metformin looks to be a much cheaper option than Ozempic (and taken orally which I prefer over a daily needle) and people with PCOS find great results! I am in absolute shock. I am so happy, but I also feel so angry as this is something I could have been dealing with a long time ago. I am mad at myself for not advocating sooner, but at the same time was told I would be called if there were results that needed to be talked about. The one result I really wanted and needed to know was PCOS and I feel like this had been looked over. I just assumed this whole time I did have PCOS because I have nearly every symptom but hair loss and acne. I had got laser treatment for my facial hair that could have possibly been avoided if I knew sooner that I had PCOS.
I am glad I am still finding out now, though. I'm happy this video exists. I will be calling my PCP tomorrow and inquiring about going on Metformin to manage my PCOS along with a healthy diet, exercise and supplements. I took notes.
Thank you so, so much Kait.
Beef liver has a lot of glycogen which is stored molecules of glucose! So watch how much you eat!
Ответитьcan't stand your voice super annoying and wit those giant teeth n retainer
ОтветитьMost PCOS can't be "reversed", but the symptoms can be reduced. It's a disease that will most likely stick with you for life. It would probably more helpful to add "symptoms" after "PCOS" when talking about reversal because, again, it's generally not cureable, but can be made to be manageable.
ОтветитьAnother successful video, Kait.
ОтветитьAlso Wegovy and Ozempic are also helping tremendously
ОтветитьYou are less likely to have stach issues if you take the time release rather than the mealtime pill
ОтветитьI took it for a couple of months and got really bad skin and hairloss...it wasn't worth it for me.
ОтветитьTaking Metformin JUST BEFORE a meal greatly reduces nausea and vomiting.
ОтветитьI’ve had zero side effects. I take the medication after dinner
ОтветитьThank you so much for the detailed explanation..
ОтветитьI have used metformin, no side effects for me.
1)it didn't cure my pcos, but my skin got clear, and hair started regrowing.
2)Metformin doesn't cause b12 deficiency, it's pioneer phenformin cause b12 deficiency
3)it cause lactic acidosis only in kidney patients.
Can i take birth control pills and metformin at the same time for pcos?
ОтветитьSo basically we’re screwed, we’re in HELL
ОтветитьPCOS CAUSES hair loss on the head. Metformin doesn’t cause hair loss. It helps or grow back.
ОтветитьHi, I just want to know I am from South Africa and what I have picked up is that you mention berberine a lot, I have been on metformin and it made me so sick so I want to try berberine is there anything I should look out for when buying this product, online I dont find the products that you mention in your posts,,please help as I just want to lose weight but it is so hard with pcos and have been trying for more than three years to get pregnant it really gets frustrated
ОтветитьI have just been prescribed this drug. Thanks so much for such a useful video.
ОтветитьDoes it help with acne ???????
ОтветитьI cannot stress this enough: Ketogenic diet is effective, but it is NOT the best solution and tbh doesn’t make you happy in the long run. It is also extremely high maintenance and for me as a uni student that is dependent on quick easy meals, not that affordable. Even if it has a quick effective, everyone I know that ever did this had a Jo-Jo effect, because it is so hard to maintain this diet. As you said, trying to decrease the consumption of maybe pasta or bread helps, but I wouldn’t recommend trying to not eat any of it. My dietician told me that gluten free and full grain alternatives are already better in case of bread and pasta :)
ОтветитьHello, new here. I’ve recently started metformine, and my stomach has been upset. I take it at night before bed, of course after dinner. I have the cystic acne all over my face, neck and back. It’s also hard for me to become pregnant. I’ve gained a tremendously amount of weight and look like I’m about 7-8 months pregnant 😩. I’m so sad about this all and just want to get control of this in a natural way with meds.
ОтветитьI’m scared to take it because I don’t want to go bald.
ОтветитьWhat naturally can I take to stop my bad facial hair?
ОтветитьI was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 26yo. I had gained a ton of weight within a year year period with no period for more than 6mo. I knew something was wrong. Anyway, fast forward I have been maintaining my insulin levels through diet & exercise. Practically not allowing myself to eat anything bad & killing myself at the gym plus cardio JUST to maintain. I am SO TIRED of working so hard and going no where when it comes to weight loss. By no means do I want to be skinny but I want to feel fit & healthy. At this point in my life I am finally willing to try Metformin despite the possible side effects. Anyway, thanks for sharing your videos. I've read through some one the comments & how its worked for others & I am happy to know there are options. I intently listened to how it can poss effect your digestive track which is why I am taking a broad full-spectrum enzyme and stabilized probiotic supplement that promotes healthy digestion, nutrient absorption, and gut health! I think Metformin & this product would pair well for optimizing results!!
ОтветитьThis video was very helpful. Thank you
ОтветитьI was prescribed 1500mg daily but I'm still having issues adjusting to it. A couple of weeks they say 🙄 it's so tough on my bowels and embarrassing. I've seen no improvement in my cycle and my androgens are still raging. Waiting for my most recent blood tests but I'm not expecting much . Ive done so much reading on this and it seems metformin only works for a small percentage of women
ОтветитьMy insulin level is 10 still my doctor prescribed me metformin for pcos treatment
ОтветитьI got diagnosed with PCOS in January, after having the symptoms for years. I immediately started metformin, and unlike 99 % of the other comments not just here but seemingly all over the internet, it's had an amazing effect on me. I'm so glad I started it and didn't listen to all the negativity online.
It's been rough on my stomach, but I increased the dose really really slowly and can now take 1500 mg without any issues. I plan on trying to get up to 2000 mg a day but I'll do that when I have some time off work in case I have to deal with side-effects. However, for me, it seems it is really important to take the medication AFTER I've eaten. So I will eat a decent sized meal, never just a snack. For my medicine taking meals, I will avoid sugary things (including fruit). I then wait about 15-20 minutes, then I take my medicine. At first I thought I had to take it as I was eating, but taking it after I've eaten seems to lessen the side-effects.
Overall Metformin has lowered my crazy high sugar cravings a little. It lowered the amount of body hair, and the amount of facial hair by a decent amount. My skin, for the first time in my life since age 13, is now CLEAR. I'm having regular periods and regular, predictable hormonal symptoms that are normal. The hair (on my head) is growing back in after steadily getting thinner and thinner as the years have gone by.
About a month ago I started Inositol, and am now taking it with Metformin. The inositol has further lowered my sugar cravings even more, and I now feel like I did when I did low carb a few years ago. I can control myself - but I can also treat myself once in a while to a nice treat if I want. However, I feel satiated by the sweetness really fast compared to before, so it's nothing but a plus! I believe also the inositol has further helped clear my skin up, and I'm excited to see if the inositol will keep having improvements on my body.
I don't weigh myself, but I think from when I started Metformin in January I have lost about 10-15 kg, and that's without actually trying to lose weight. My hip and knee pain is gone, I feel more agile and my clothes are looser. But I just focus on eating healthy foods (which I now crave instead of sweets), and normal sized portions. I've even been able to cut out sweet drinks and for the first time in my ENTIRE life, I am now drinking almost exclusively water and I'm loving it.
I just hope people aren't discouraged from at least giving it a real go for several months, even when they read only negative experiences.
Just started 10 days ago already seeing positive effects 1750mg for pcos and TTC. Side effects not bad at all slight nausea first two days and diherea until day 5 then went away. Ovulated 7 days after starting
