I remember when that one single VGA port was standard.. as in if you couldn't afford it the main board didn't even have a shitty one lol. I remember building out a Pentium 4 machine when I was around 13 and where I killed my budget my papa had give me was that video and sound card (lol).

lol you're not playing the right kind of game. This was the first tomb raider Era . This kinda card was match with the first Pentiums starting at 60 Mhz. Games were running at 320x240 and 640x480.... Windows 95 etc.... I get that this was a video for fun but come on man lol

this card is made for retro games especialy stuff like the original doom and dos based games there are not manny cards the original monkey island or day of the tentacle version look so crisp on and allot of older games support this chip specifically and dont run on modern hardware it is also natively supported by open dos so making a usb boot stick whit some old games on it and stuffing it in a system whit a first generation duron or older athlon will give u incredible results whitout the use of a framelimiter wich is normaly needet for systems that powerfull if u want to use windows for some reason use 3.11 or 95se if u realy want to feel the pain

Man don't dog on a 1998 2D GPU and compare to the ewaste that is the 710. It was a different time. If you needed something that could output video so you could play diablo 2, that shit had you covered.

I know this is an old video but I find it really funny because I remember playing the Resident evil 4 pc version(the worst port ever) on our old dual core pc that didn't even have a dedicated gpu. The thing is, the motherboard has an in-built one and I managed to get it running at atleast 22fps on average. It was fun times as a kid. Spending lots of sleepless nights playing resident evil as a deprived kid was amazing. Year was 2009 if I remember it correctly. We were so poor that time lmaooo

I had an even weaker video card than that in the 1990's. Try an ATI 3D Rage IIC PCI on for size; 4MB of VRAM lol. It also didn't have a heatsink.

Your luck to even get one that even works right, ive bought 2 before for a computer i made for running dos stuff, just needed a basic adapter that was pci, both cards just displayed garbage even on different computers, this was also an issue i saw other people have in reviews for these cards.

Unreql tournament isn't "older" than half life. They are from the same generation of 98-99 games, I thought you would have pulled doom or Duke Nukem at this point

This isn't a gpu for graphics processing, it's only meant to provide video output for servers for console outputs, most if not all of which don't even include pci express .connectors.

when you are installing windows xp to a sata drive u must go in to the bios and then set the. drive from ascii or it could be named Sata to IDE this alow the sata drive to come up as an IDE drive an install it with a cd it gets picky of what you install it from

A lot of us back in the day kicked off the whole GPU industry buying 3DFX Voodoo cards that were less powerful than this. I'm sure I still have mine... somewhere. An nvidia TNT or TNT2 card, or an Intel card, was a step up

The card works great for windows 98 games on a P1 P2 on a CRT with VGA why don't you try the card on a system it was designed for I've got the same card in my P1 233mmx .

The ATI Rage XL 8mb was intended for old computer systems running Windows 95 or 98. I have the "original" Rage XL 8mb PCI card running in my old system paired to a Voodoo 1, which is essentially what the Rage XL was intended for at the time in 1998, not what this moron is trying to use it for. He laughs and giggles like a 5-year-old child.........well the joke is completely on him!!! People that would buy this card on Amazon or Ebay are retro gamers who are looking for something simple for an old system so they can run old PC games that need older video cards that use older driver to get the games working properly, only a moron would attempt using it in a modern system. Games like Half Life and Unreal Tournament require a more modern video card to run properly, for that I have a 2nd Windows 98 PC running an Asus V9570 Geforce FX 5700 256MB AGP video card. The ATI Rage XL runs perfectly fine on my ASUS P5S-VM (HP OEM) motherboard with a K6-2 500 processor paired with a 3dfx Voodoo 1 video card!!!

Tbh if a motherboard could, I would just slap this in next to a newer card. Idk about the electric bill but if it gets me 0.1 extra frames I will gladly take it
