is it normal for ground loop noise to be present when also recording a bass guitar with an active eq into a usb interface? (ssl2+) i have the idle pc ground loop noise, and its also there when i track bass specifically. would the ifi fix that?

I have a problem with the volume buttons, when I turn it up or down it loses strength and it produces noise distortion and the power remains unstable... and is that normal when I listen to anything? off and I decide to meter music I just have a monitor that works at full capacity and after 10 or 15 min the other monitor starts at full capacity

This is a great video, running into a weird issue where only my right monitor has computer noise. I've switched cables, power outlets, and even fully switched out to a different set of monitors and running into the same issue. iDefender seems like my best bet, but was curious if you had any insight before I pulled the trigger?

Thanks for the advice. I knew the hum was from my Scarlett Solo (it works fine with my other laptop with the same monitors) but didn't know how to go about the problem. Hopefully the iFI iDefender will solve the issue. Thanks!

fixed all the noise on my studio speakers by using x2 TRS 1/4 jacks straight into the audio interface. Thanks!

The computer's power supply might be on its way out with worn capacitors like you shown and can cause big problems later on. I changed the power supply, and the noise was significantly reduced and changed in character.

I also got the most unholy radio interference attempting to use a SATA disk outside of the computer case. I would transmit the video card's pulses and was not good if an OpenGL window was opened. It's a miracle that the electronics inside the computer work, and I don't know how it is shielded if some front panels in CD bays are missing, but it seems to be ok.

The old standard was to put the sound card in the bottom most slot away from the video card.

If your audio interface has a power option separate from USB data, I HIGHLY recommend you use it. I eliminated so much buzz just by swapping to the alternate power plug and use USB only for data.

This has been going on the my Apple Studio Display. It seems it the ASD itself, and having poor shielding. Whenever I do anything on the Mac, data related, like load a web page, there is a static sound in my JBL 305 monitors. I have Monster cable TRS / XLR balanced cables, that is not the issue....

question, I get the feedback loop noise in my studio monitors but NOTHING in my headphones. Do you think that iDefender device will solve it for the speakers? I would expect it to exist in all outputs from the interface?

hey, Ive disconnected both monitors and left only the power cable on and both of monitors still making this little but annoying static sound... notice that one side the volume went lower overall than the other but that might be another unrelated issue. i think this might have something to so with the power board is connected too as ive plugged the computer in the same one

I'm getting that issue with the noisy USB. I suppose I can try buying that iDefender, but the frustrating part is that I wasn't getting this noise before I got a new desk. So I'm guessing there is a better configuration I need to find again, or something suddenly broke while in the desk switch. Thanks for the video! I'll reply again if I fix my issue (otherwise it's back to mostly using headphones).

Intrigued to try the idefender. Ive used my monitors with multiple wire combinations and several pcs to troubleshoot the noise. It turns out that i have an extra whiney GTX 1080 or Corsair PSU on my main rig. So thanks for this video, i hope it works.

Mine eventually boiled down to using the USB 3 ports causing coil whine on the motherboard of my PC, which was then getting passed through to the USB interface, even though its an actively powered interface & I had the USB coming through an actively powered usb hub

Helppp! My HS5 as making a very high pitched sound as soon as I turn them on and I've tried everything. It does that even when it's not plugged to the interface or if absolutely nothing is on next to it (my setup is just the monitors and a scarlet 18i8 and it does that even when everything is off, the internet modem is far away as well as other electronics), when it is just simply plugged with the power cable. I've tried changing plugs but yeah it makes this noise as soon as I turn it on, just with the power cable plugged into it. What could that be??

My noise that just developed is an intermittent motor-boating noise that comes when I have any browser open. It lasts for a few seconds and happens every few minutes or so. I've been in electronics most of my life, but can't seem to find this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

I watched your video. Good presentation. My issues are:
1. My Tube Guitar amp has a loud, what sounds like a ground loop. I've tried different outlets and different guitars. This is with all other devices in the studio off.
2. When my PC Vidoes monitors are on the noise gets real loud.
Any suggestions?

Got the board checked by electrician. Things were normal
A loud hiss white signal noise comes and falls of with the music signal.

This was useful but I still have a problem. I have computer noise but I am using a socket-powered external interface. Since you said the iFit USB solution only works with phantom-powered interfaces, what am I to do? Most of the noise seems to go through the USB cable which I am trying to fix now.
